Faulty PCM Mk6.5 Fiesta 1.6 tdci

Featured Replies

Ford said I need a new pcm as they don't repair these and happily quoted Over £2000 for the pleasure. Can anyone tell me where I can get this issue fixed for less but with a reputable repairer.

Might depend what the problem is as to whether it can be easily fixed or not.

Steve at HDi-Tuning used to fix PCMs, he can also a remap for you. Somewhere like BBA Reman might do it as they repair faulty dash clusters.

Or you could buy one from a used car, with the key fobs and clocks (they're all coded together) which could be the cheapest option.

Decided to send to BBA Rehmans as other people suggested that's one of the best. See what happens when it comes back.

FIXED..just popped back with this in case it helps someone with the same issue I had..The PCM came back with a report to say there is nothing wrong with it & is working fine. We progressed with further diagnostics via a local car electrician with Ford software and he managed to reset everything. The cause of the fault was that as the battery died in the freezing temperatures, it sent a signal/s in confusion to the pcm to stop fuel flow etc or immobilised the the engine. The ecu may have thought the car is being stolen so shut down everything to start the engine. Once this stuff had been unscrambled and reset the car purred back into life. Inflated tyres to correct pressures and took it on the motorway. I am impressed because I have driven my daughters car before and it drove like a standard noisy diesel car but this time I could feel the turbo surges from both ends of the short motoway,is a lot quieter and seems to float forward in air when turbo kicks in. The electrician must have reset something or inadvertently fixed something that was wrong initially along with the PCM fault as this definitely did not happen before and it does not happen in my own Fiesta mk 6.5 which has the same 1.6 tdci engine but a year older. I always thought the turbo in these cars worked in the background boringly and that was it and never noticed anything like a turbo surge. It's clear to me now that there is something not right with my car after having driven my daughters car after the fix. I can't feel the turbo kick in my car so going start by getting my ecu reset by the same electrician in the hope it works for me too. The electrician charged about £250 for the fix whereas Frauds wanted me to pay over £2000.

Good to hear it's been sorted👍. Problem with some problems with a car is some people may point to other stuff which may give similar symptoms. Garages I'd keep away from as I get a worry about the amount of care they take when they have to work on the car.
