Torque Steer/Remapped Fiesta Ecoboost

Featured Replies

Potential stupid question as this could be self inflicted and just something to expect on a remapped car, but...

I bought a Fiesta Zetec S Ecoboost 123/125 back in the summer for my work commuter, and also a Bluefin 155hp remap to make the daily grind a bit more entertaining. I've noticed the car's quite prone to torque steer; is this usual when they're chipped (or even when they aren't)? I appreciate that 30% extra torque is going to exaggerate any issues, but it's still not got the output that even a standard ST has, so I would have thought it could easily cope with the upgrade (I also appreciate that the ST might be set up differently as it was intended to have more power and torque).

The first week I had the car, I hit a nasty pothole which knocked the alignment out. I got it sorted (on Hunter equipment by the people who do the 4 wheel alignment on my other car) so I'm confident that it was as accurate as it could be). It helped, but the torque steer still seems excessive, especially now the roads are wet and icy.

I'm not technical enough to really know if anything was damaged by the pothole incident, but the car drives fine otherwise. It doesn't pull under braking or 'ordinary' acceleration, there's no bumps or knocks, none of the noises you'd associate with a wheel bearing or CV problem, and it rides perfectly, so I thought I'd ask here before I book in with Ford and potentially embarrass myself when they say it's perfectly normal.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar, or does it sound like something's wrong.

Cheers...
