MK 1 Focus Instrument Light failure.

Featured Replies

The Instrument Lights on my MK 1 Focus went dim and then failed, the Heater Control illuminations are still working.  All other functions on the Instrument Cluster are working as normal.  Any suggestions of how to rectify this fault will be much appreciated.

I had a very similar fault on my Focus Mk1.5. The instrument panel would intermittently cut out completely (no backlight, no instrument readings).

I fixed it by removing the upper trim panel on the dashboard and then removing the instrument panel. I figured it must be a fault connection at the back of the instrument panel (after having checked all the fuses were fine). So I cleaned it out, added some silicone grease and then plugged it back in. It worked fine from then on.

You could try that.
