transit fuel filter problem

ive own a 2002 transit tourneo after 5 years ive decided to change the fuel filter brought the part off euro part to be safe as all other parts ive brought have fitted anyway they  gave me the wrong part so i put the old one back on but it wouldnt start its been maintained in every other way so my question is it air in the system and if so how do you do this thanks wayne
