Dashboard goes blank when trying to start

Hope someone can help, when I turn the ignition car turns over then the dashboard goes blank no lights at all, if I continue to hold key the engine will suddenly start, all lights come back on.

If I dont continue to hold key in start position, and release it it, the dah will come back on, alarm light will flash and there are dashes in the mileage.

Car is Fiesta 58 1.25 petrol.
