Second hand ECU/PCM programming?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A bit of background to my question: I have a '04 Fiesta ST that has a faulty ECU/PCM. Sadly it is the earlier Visteon type unit that is not repairable. There are a few places that I can get a second hand refurbished unit from but all are sent 'factory reset'. It also seems near impossible to get the data transferred from one Visteon unit to another.

Seeing as a second hand unit will need to be 'coded' to my car has anyone had this done? Any rough idea on cost? Can anyone recommend a place to have this done. Does it require Ford IDS equipment?

Many thanks in advance.

To those who may be interested, you need 2 keys to complete this process. I got a second key cut and coded for £110. Ford are then going to programme the second hand ECU I procured to my car for about £90.
