Fiesta help

Featured Replies

Hi all hope all are good wasn't sure where to post this so forgive me if it's wrong. I went to go look at a 03 plate fiesta tdci zetec 130k on clock today it' been sold as spares or repairs which is fair enough the car is not in brilliant condition nothing a bit of tlc coundn't sort out . It's a non runner because the owners 5 year old daughter stuck a Biro pen insert in the ignition barrel while the owner was cleaning the car she says she pulled the pen out and the small metal tip of the pen stayed in the barrel so now the key won't go in fully to start car. she has tried to get it out and which can be seen By metal dust on the plastic around the ignition though the barrel doesn't look to damaged. I have hpi checked the car and done dvla checks mot etc all come back good they want £350 for the car which is steep not hearing the engine running. Would it be hard to remove the ignition barrel if I bought it and kind of rattle the pen top out or could I change the barrel for another or would I need ecu etc and what sort of price should I be offering Thank you for your time and sorry for long post.

I'd agree, the price is a little high for a non-runner. I wouldn't want to pay more than £500 for a running mk6 with 130k on the clock that's 15 years old. I'm a bit cheeky though and would offer basically scrap value as being on 130k you don't know what sort of engine problems it might have. You have to look out for head gasket issues on petrols around that mileage.

You can get barrel repair kits from ebay for like £15. You get 2 new keys with a new barrel and matching door lock (I assume the passenger side doesn't have a key hole, or you no longer get to use it). If it's anything like a corsa, you use the key with the kit, and transponder chip from the original.
