Adjust door

Featured Replies

When I first got my car it was second hand and had a leak in the passenger door so the place I got it from adjusted the door which stopped the leak but the way the door is set it leaves a massive gap from the wing. Is it easy to adjust the door and I guess I would need a new seal since it was leaking previously in the better position? Since I just got some paint work done it looks really good apart from the daft gap.

It should be relatively easy I've done loads of odd bits n nearly everything is 1st time including stopping the engine revving up when it felt like it 😂, our drivers side let's a bit in when first shut but that's it 😕 l would change the seal n put it back as it was as the place should have replaced the seal really

Anyone know where to start?

That l would just undo the bolts that hold it on to the body as the doors bolts wouldn't move l imagine, today l took a big step n dismantled my drive shaft to fit a complete new 1 then had to remove it as a big rubber/metal bit turn out to be just for transportation purposes 😂

Yeh would imagine it's bolts but I'm looking for the specific way to adjust it I'm not just going to remove bolts and end up with a door that won't shut as I need to get to work. Well done on changing the drive shaft @doggsbodyI guess it was clicking?

I’ve replaced doors and the tailgate on my Mk2 Focus and imho it’s pretty hard to totally mess up so that you won’t be able to close the door. You’ve just got to take it slowly, undo the bolts gradually until you’re just able to move the door a tiny bit. Tighten the bolts after each adjustment and test how the door closes. It’s just a case of trial and error to gradually move the door in the right direction so that it sits “right”. Having someone help you by supporting the weight of the door will make life easier but it is possible to do it on your own.

Thanks @F0CUE yeah it was n still is 😂 mine is used for work to but as Dan p mentioned just undo them slightly enough to move it a bit each time which l should have stated ( doh me 😂 ) you'll have to let us know how you get on with it 👍
