focus 2005 2.0 TDCI Broke down! Help please!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I didn’t intend my first post asking for help.  But I’m in a right pickle!

So got my focus 2005 2.0 TDCI 2 weeks ago.  80,000 miles, Full history, one owner. Prefect for my needs.

Wanted a diesel as I’m doing around 500 miles per week.

So travelling home on A66. Had loss of power. Changed down a gear then completed lose of power and wouldn’t start!  Gulp!!!! Nightmare.

Anyway, got recovered home and recovery read codes. EGR valve.

So being at my indie, said, yep we can fix it.

They replaced the EGR and a new batt.  Still won’t start!

Has anyone got any advice? Don’t want this to turn into a parts replacement exercise and end up will a huge bill!

Is there something simple they have missed?

They have them my spare key in case it’s the immobiliser.

Thanks

Rich.

Still not repaired yet! Beginning to wish I never bought it!  High pressure fuel pump is out.  Still waiting answer from garage if they can fix it

A fuel filter change may be all you need, this exact thing happened to my brother, a filter change sorted it

Agree with Pragmatix. I bought a non-running Transit Connect 1.8L TDCI van. It had just had a new Bosch fuel filter and I was recommended to use a Delphi one. I also did a leakdown test on the injectors and found 3 were leaky so swapped these for refurbished ones. Filled the filter up full then fitted it. Van leapt into life.   Another trick. Disconnect the rubber air inlet hose from the turbo and spray brake and clutch cleaner into the inlet pipe. If it fires up for a few seconds it points to fuel not getting through. Good luck

So after 5 weeks at garage! It’s running.

So the following has being replaced.

Battery

high pressure fuel pump

start motor

EGR valve

fuel rail

reset immobiliser at main dealer

It’s being a long wait, but I’m happy as the garage I bought it from has repaired it.  At nil cost to me.

Glad your sorted, thanks for letting us know.
