1.4 TDCI Starter Motor

Featured Replies

My starter motor on my 2006 tdci has stopped working. I've ordered a replacement one to fit myself. I've been having difficulty finding the top bolts for the motor even after removing the batterry, battery tray and the tray support. Has anyone fitted one of these and if so can you give me any tips. I've managed to locate the motor from underneath the car and if I'm correct the one bolt at the bottom of it is at the side of the motor towards the rear of the car - am i right in thinking that the electrical connectors are via a plastic plug at the end of  plastic wrapped wires?

Had a go at this today -found the bolt underneath from starter motor to bellhousing easy enough and after about an hour I managed to fine and remove one of the top bolts. I cant even see the other top bolt - the manual just stated that you remove the top bolts and doesn't even hint at them being so inaccessible  does anyone know if it is possible to get to the two top bolts without having to seriously take other things apart?
