Help please my dipstick has snapped.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I went to check my oil and the bottom couple of inches of my dipstick broke off :( So i cannot check my level. My car is a 2012 2.0 TDCI 140.

Anyone got any tips for removing this please?

I have seen various videos on the net using an air line, could this damage the engine though?

As the dipstick is plastic, well mine was dropping the sump is the only way.

Depends if it seals in the tube or not really.  If it does, I'd try using an oil suction pump to pull it out.  Or tape the hoover pipe onto it lol.

If you've got an air line, I don't think it'll do any harm to try that video, oil runs at a much higher pressure than the air going in there.

Thanks yea I have air lines, i was thinking i would need to block the breather...

I may try the hoover first :)
