Upgrading to a DAB radio

Featured Replies

I currently have a 2010 fiesta with a standard fm radio. but I do fancy a dab one, local stations aren't very good.

so I was looking at simply swapping it for a used dab and installing a magnetic smb aerial on the roof, with the radio coming from the worlds most famous auction site. but I noticed that they have different connectors.

Mine has 2 connectors quite close together that are squarish and 1 bigger than the other. whereas the dab ones I've looked at have blocks that seem wider, but shallower meaning ill have to change my blocks.

I was just wondering if this is relatively straight forward, as electrical knowledge is a thorn in my side. if it is, does anyone have any links as to how to do it or what blocks to buy.

Post a link to the one you've found and I'll have a look. I've done the same upgrade on the facelift Fiesta. I posted a topic when I was going through the process here.

Hi, this is the one I was looking at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FIESTA-MK7-2011-SONY-DAB-RADIO-CD-PLAYER/112746481863?hash=item1a4036c8c7:g:sP0AAOSwmSdaVf8A

But this is my current set up. I have the bluetooth one with the number pad if that makes a difference.

I was hoping really just to swap the head units, and then put in a magnetic aerial from Halfords and then run it under the glovebox.

If you have a look at my topic I posted, I didn't even run an aerial and was basically plug and play (other than some very small programming).

The head units with DAB on the pre-facelift were all sony ones I believe and therefore had bluetooth (which I'm assuming yours doesn't).

There was a big thread on the forum somewhere about people upgrading to sony units on the pre-facelifts so you might want to search for those.
