Ford GPS V Tom Tom GPS

Featured Replies

I'm hoping in the next year or two of buying a Ford Fiesta and just wondered if anyone has done a comparison of a standalone TomTom

compared to a Ford GPS built in. I know there are issues about updates, but what about accuracy  ease of use etc?)

I've got a 2016 ST3 with the built in Sony stereo and SatNav. I switched to using TomTom Go on my mobile as I find it easier to use and more responsive to delays ahead. I got stuck in traffic without warning on too many occasions with the built in system which forced me to try the app instead.

Thank you! Hopefully some more responses.

Sync3 nav works just fine.
Combine it with FordPass on a phone and you get rerouting data and rtc/roadworks alerts.

My Sync 3 tends to route you through housing estates rather than sticking to the main roads. Just one example i can recall below (not a housing estate but point still stands)

See example The Orange route is the route the Sat Nav wanted you to take (through a 20Mph road) were as i stuck to the A road (in green) on this occasion (as any sensible person and indeed my TomTom did)

Possibly you've got nav set to eco route?

Off the 3 options it gave me i chose the shortest (red route)

Choose fastest route and change the eco penalty.
Always works well for me.

Eco Penalty, whats that in Non-Ford language??? Thanks Clive

It's in the nav settings menu.
I believe that it only gives leniency when earning eco points (the petals) but I set mine to low penalty anyway.
