There's almost certainly a leak somewhere on the high-pressure side between the turbo and manifold. Our 1.8TDCi had done 125K when we sold it and in the 7 years we ran it there was never any whistle.2 points

Are you sure that you don't have any turbo hoses with splits in them?2 points

It's a sound deadening product which you can put more or less anywhere in your car to make outside and road noise minimal, it's a really good product not done mine yet but I have a friend who has it on his but all throughout the car and it's pretty much silent :)2 points

You will be amazed, they really are cracking engines, Puma speed are doing a kit for £2.5k that takes it to over 200bhp. I'm learning to ride a bike just now too, so going to sit my full license this year and get a bigger bike, so don't really need a mental fast car too. Puma speed 205bhp upgrade2 points

Jamie the people you work with were around when labour was for the working man... That labour no longer exists. The working man has been screwed by labour time and time again, labour is now for the men and women who can work but do not work......2 points

Hi Looking for some info with my 09 Mondeo I Noticed the other day when driving that the tabs on the hud console disappeared leaving just the radio greyed out and the settings and trip options available left it as it was as I had to go into work and when I checked it later all was well this has happened again since but not for a few days Now when I was on the car tonight I got an error message on the console steering malfunction got home and switched off and back on again started fine same error message Disconnected the battery and left it off for about half an hour and then connected it back up car powers up when unlocking and still gives the error steering malfunction but now will no longer start It’s a key less entry and I have tried the other key and also sticking the key in the blanked off slot where a normal key goes and still the car won’t start doesn't give me the press clutch message that normally comes on before starting Had a look at the fuses for the key less and steering lock and they look ok and tried the battery again and still nothing Any ideas or suggestions before I book it in to get looked at and potentially cost me a fortune Cheers ScoobieDoo1 point

Hi all! I have a fiesta with the 100ps 1.0 ecoboost engine. Ford claim 65 Mpg. I was getting 45 mpg which is understandable as I drive to work along a mix of roads so wont get the 65mpg, but looked today and it was doing 32 mpg! I am a young lad, but even so I dont over rev it much, I just drive like any other person! Not quite sure on why its dropped, any opinions? Cheers!1 point

Hi all Not been online for 3-4 months as I have been busy busy busy so it's nice to be back, however the point to this thread is that the ST has at last finally broken me after trying really hard to resist for soooooo long My current 14 plate Zetec S is due to be either paid off or handed back in April and my mind was 95% sure I would pay the final payment and have finance free motoring for a while, but NO the ST bug has got to me and I'm in discussions with my dealer to get an ST-2 Not sure who to blame for this (maybe you guys on here), lol I have only just recently added a custom exhaust, K&N filter, ST rear end, Triple R side skirts and front spliter to my ZS and I'm guessing the dealer will only accept it back fully standard, so those parts will be going up for sale very soon if anyone is interested (all really new still and under 4 months old)1 point

No questions need answering on this one! Just thought I would post a few pics of a before + after pics on a quick clean today - car hadn't been done in about 4 week so it needed doing! Also got some pictures of a poorboys product I used to try and hide some scratches. http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-black-hole-show-glaze.html is the product - very good indeed however you need a wax/sealant afterwards to get the best results! So here are the befores - notice the dirt and grime! After I had blasted the car with some water to get the first layer of grime off, the sun came out for the first time in.....well as long as I can remember. Had some good evaporation going on! (Notice the mist ontop of the bonnet - not as clear as I would like as it's only taken on my Samsung Galaxy Edge + .... hardly a professional camera!) After I had done this I realised I had ran out of snow foam...... So I had to use a pre-set one on the jetwash which is just a light covering of watery suds - but better than nothing! After I had washed it all down with a mitten and dried it all off, I had noticed 2 small scratches on the rear drivers arch. I wanted to see if I could get rid of these with the poorboys. This one which is deeper than I first thought And this lighter one (still deepish though) AFTER THE POORBOYS - It couldn't remove the lower deeper scratch (first image) - as unfortunately it isn't a miracle worker. However, it did fill in the upper scratch and easily took the passing eye off it. If you bent down and looked from a lower angle, the scratch was still there but again - harder to see. Its hard to compare from this image as there seems to be dirt on my camera lens but when I took the picture from the same angle the scratch seemed non-existent. If somebody spots the only modification in this image below, you get a special like from me. ANYHOW. Sorry for the picture overload, but i LIED with my first line .I decided to replace my REG lights to LED's, however upon removing the old bulb I had noticed the yellow holders had turned a bit brown, is this usual on these as they both looked identical? Once I had swapped them both, looked at the nice clean car, I got in my car and went to empty some rubbish from the outside.......only to hear a big DANG!....funnily enough when a car is parked on a downward slope, the doors tend to carry on swinging open - straight into my driveway wall :(. I'm always ULTRA careful about this, especially since the doors on a 3 door fiesta are a little on the long side..... the result Not as bad as first thought once I saw the door leaning against my wall. (Notice, its only a chip in the middle of the image). The 2 white lines below it are just image glare/glare from the floor onto the car. I think I got off lightly with that one. Going to spend a full day toward the summer with a clay bar etc etc to see what results I can get (May even get the machine polisher out). thanks for reading and hopefully not too many images for yall'!1 point

Hi all I'm wondering if anyone can share any tips on how to repair this "gouge" in my dashboard trim please? I'm not into wraps and the likes. I was thinking maybe a little filler and a touch of paint, so that it doesn't stand out so much (not that it stands out, it's just annoying me that it's there!). As always with you guys, any comments are welcome! Thanks Jody1 point

Yeah I did my CBT in Nov 2014 and bought the Yamaha so I need to sit my full test before Nov this year.1 point

It's not about cooling the turbo, it's about keeping it supplied with oil, sitting idling won't cool the engine down. turning the engine off when the turbo is at a high speed will mean it spins for a long time with no oil flow, if you drive off boost for a bit or idle for a few seconds before switching off this allows the turbo to slow down, the time with no oil flow is then reduced.1 point

There are some replacement switch panels on ebay, however they're not cheap. Prices around £50-60. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Buy some 3M wrap on eBay and cover the whole thing in a different colour :) I covered mine in carbon fibre effect. Sent from the pub with a pint in the other hand.1 point

Thanks for that tip. I've actually found one in the next village, believe it or not. Always thought the garage looked a bit disreputable but it turns out they're a specialist body shop. You can never tell by appearances can you? The car's booked in for next week. Could be quite an expensive job depending on what needs adjusting but if it improves the handling I'll be happy. I'll report back after it's done.1 point

Low annual mileage in a diesel isn't an issue per se - it's the type / speed of driving that matters 3000 miles per annum in a diesel at motorway speeds is not an issue - 3000 miles per annum crawling round town @ 20 m.p.h is a seriously bad idea & not what a diesel engine is built for1 point

I like that better actually red might be too bold on the drums, callipers red looks awesome though! Still not sure about the alloys though tempted to leave them as they are as new alloys is too big an investment, painting them is a consideration although, they're 17" standard ZS alloys1 point

As above - the level of cover & parts failure conditions covered is vital . . . . & at the end of the day any warranty is simply an insurance policy - you are in effect gambling that something expensive will go wrong, but hoping it doesn't . . . . & you are covered for potentially huge repair costs should x or y or z go wrong, but maybe not if parts a or b or c fail . . so make sure the policy is suitable for your needs. As previously stated, £0.69p per day is a small price to pay for at least some peace of mind i.m.o.1 point

Maybe a replacement trim off ebay and swap it would be the answer. Little nicks and marks like that would annoy me too lol1 point

It would be worth reading in depth what IS actually covered and what is NOT covered. My local ford dealer in the town I stay in is £90 an hour labour so prices of repairs would soon rack up at a dealer.1 point

You could even buy a '09 base "Studio" model and get ESP with it. But a '11 Titanium seems like a better choice. Have fun with it! :)1 point

lol, got the dials fitted & the coked up engine Terracleaned today. Not had a chance to do a long run but so far it idles a lot more smoothly, pulls more smoothly at lower revs & the 45 miles total I've covered today have managed 51 MPG which is about 10 more than I've been averaging lately. The other rear speaker has stopped working now but I really can't be bothered with paying out the cash for decent replacements, gaskets etc for fitting when I sit in the front so I can hear my tunes just fine Will also definitely need to sort out the front discs, I thought I'd give the engine a little test & got it up to 80....sorry Stoney I meant 70, braked fairly hard & the steering wheel nearly jumped out of my hands The joys of car ownership! Will sort out a picture of the dials fitted, they look pretty good on top of the carbon fiber wrap. Roll on the weekend!1 point

It's more to do with colour trends these days than rental fleets etc. true once upon a time most Black or White cars would be hire vehicles for cheapness and cheaper repairs it is not always the case now. Black, Silver/Grey, White Blue and Red are the most on trend colours more recently hence why so many are seen these days in these colours.1 point

Hi Liam Ill try not to scare the sales man too much, I will not be sticking to the 30mph roads. I will make sure I get the rec counter and that little turbo working to its max ha ha. I work as a paramedic so I know every lump and bump in the roads where the dealership is so ill make sure the suspension lives up to its reputation . I am having trouble turning my neck otherwise I would go for the 1.6 focus. Iv got a spinal injury after doing a superman impression in the back of an ambulance when a 'little boy' in a Vauxhall Corsa pulled out of a junction, I am sure he wanted to test the stopping distance of ambulance .1 point

I'd have thought the reflections created on the windscreen from the footwells at night whilst driving would effect your vision through the screen and if you had or caused an accident you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. this was a few years ago now but would be interesting hearing one of the police guys thoughts on this .... http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=152711 point

Keep the door open while your driving? I don't think there is a way to do so but IMO it would be off putting whilst driving in the dark (all cab lit up and darkness outside).1 point

Apologies about this trying to my head round something trivial. If I fitted these http://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/tyc-1502054.html apart from the cornering lighting not working the manual leveling and general alignment would be OK or would it be a waste of time totally?1 point

Aviva insurance in Ireland today announced "Moving Forward" they wont be insuring older cars anymore such as 1999 Ford Focus or Basically anything prior to the era of ESP and ABS, I asked them on Twitter "is it because old fords never die, they only get faster" I'm still awaiting there response on this very valid point.1 point

Hi Mate Mines turned out to be a sensor to do with the keyless entry I was getting the steering error message and then not long after it the car just cut out and wouldnt even turn over powered up but nothing worked and wouldnt start Said that the sensor was part of a system that alows the car to start and because the sensor was broke it wouldnt alow it to go any further This happened a few times and was reprogrammed before they advised me to replace it (About £350 ish) Since its been replaced to be fair I have had no issues1 point
