  1. I love watching birds, but annoyingly live in a street with a million (slight exaggeration..) cats. So there are not many visiting the garden. Having a pet parrot however has given me practice of taking their photos. Rather proud of this one - Also, my £6 number plate surrounds turned up. They are a surprisingly good match to the glossy black front grill and seem to hold the new metal plates very well. Sometimes buying cheap does work out it seems!

  2. It's said they can let a little more noise out, might marginally improve throttle response if you give the ECU time to re-learn. Mainly for the looks though if on stock map.

  4. YOu and me both, I finally got paid at dinnertime today and technically I can't spend any of it as it's all gone on bills lol Best jeans I've had for longetivity are from primark. I usually work my cloths that if they don't fit or they're looking a bit worse for wear they get demoted to going to play with cow poo. Just demoted some !Removed! ones that I'll currently wearing and they are already ripping around the crotch. Next ones are awful for wearing as well, demoted 4 pairs of next jeans to work jeans(all 36 waist, I'm now a 32) and they've all ended up in the charity bag as they've all ripped I tend to shop at next, or Ben Sherman at Cheshire oaks. I always have button fly as well for the exact same reason as you, was living at nan and grandads at the time. Nan shouts me, " Matt why have you got blood in your underwear", caught myself in my zip nan. All I heard was Grandad peeing himself laughing lol

  6. Hi all I live in Israel, and I own a 2012 Ford Focus EcoBoost 1.6 182PS for ~6 months now. This model is very rare here, only 20 pieces were sold all together, so I"m happy to find a community with some more owners of this model. I wanted to share with you my experience with bluefin software upgrade and K&N 57s-4000 open filter. When I first got the car I ordered the SW and filter, and went to a local tunning shop with a dyno to install them while measuring the results before and after. The filter that was already installed was the stock filter which was the original one, had ~23K miles on it (didn't know that at the time). We did a run of stock condition as baseline, then a run with only K&N filter, and then filter + SW : K&N filter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/57S-4000-Performance-Intake-Kit/dp/B00ARCO30Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467752283&sr=8-1&keywords=k%26n+57s-4000) Bluefin SW (http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=3&model=2&variant=2544) The results were a bit surprising, the filter showed a major improvement of ~15hp, and ~30nm in torque (ignore the torque scale on the graphs, it's a bug). Adding the Bluefin SW yielded another ~7hp (total) I was surprised to see how much impact the K&N filter had. After few months I discovered that the stock filter was never changed, so I decided to run some road tests to see if the big change was simply there because the stock filter was clogged already. I purchased a fresh stock filter (original OEM), and cleaned the K&N filter with the dedicated cleaning kit. The measurements I made was done using the following method : - OBD WIFI adapter connected to iphone DashCommand app. The app can measure real speed from the car OBD. - chosen a specific road section of ~1 mile length. - set the app to measure acceleration time from 60KM/h to 160KM/h at 4th gear. That covers RPM from 2000 to 5400 with no gear shifts, to eliminate driver shift time variation. - each setup measure 3 times one after the other. - all measurements done on the same evening, within 1 hour. - A/C was turned off. I measured 4 combinations, the results are in the table. Seems the measurement is reliable as the error for same setup is smaller than the difference between setups. You can see that again the filter had a bigger impact than the Bluefin SW on it's own, but the Bluefin combined with the K&N filter gave the best results. I have found out that the same stock filter is used in all Ford Focus engines (1.6/2.0 non-turbo, and 1.6/2.0 turbo). So it could be possible that the stock filter is not providing enough airflow for the turbocharged engines, thus the K&N filter have such an impact. Hope you find this info useful, any comments are welcome..

  11. Thanks for getting back to me chaps. With regard to the DPF pressure readings, didn't know if it might be worth having a look at the following link: http://www.cmaxownersclub.co.uk/forum/technical-36/dpf-error-codes-forscan-elmconfig-46138/ I was reading through this thread and paid particular attention to post # 8. I've checked, and the DV6 engine in my Focus is the same that would have been used in the posters 2008 Mazda 3, and he states that normal pressure readings are up to 30kPa, anything above this signifies a DPF blockage. I'm not sure how accurate this statement is, it would be nice to find some more info about this to check against and I will keep looking. As for when my DPF was last changed, I really don't know. I bought the car really cheap due to there being not much service history with it, so was a bit of a risk, although the car has done 11.000 trouble free miles until now and 2 passed MOTs since owning, and being honest it is still driving really well almost all of the time. One thing that is confusing me though is if the DPF ash full PID was counting down the miles to when it is supposedly full, why would the reading go up while I was driving along? I did find this next link which might have some relevant info, but I can't make head nor tale of it, and there is a link within that one but takes you to a german site, and I can't speak german. http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20 Any views / ideas would be very welcome.

  19. Haha, I guess they realised it was a mistake pretty quickly! My bad for putting mk6 instead of 6.5 above, just assumed the lights were both the same! Even had a Mk6 last year briefly lol. You're probably right about the grommet(s) being worn though, it's the bottom one that keeps popping out, if anyone's bored and got access to the Ford parts thing could you get me the part number please? Unless anyone's breaking a low mile Mk6.5 with a unworn grommet and fancies sending me it...I could also do with a pair of number plate lights as they keep falling out...usually like £2 each new for 306s, Golfs and anything else I've bought them for, but the Fiesta ones are like 10 times that for apparently no reason...

  23. As ian said, in line current testing is the best way to work out whats going on, pulling fuses in sequence will help isolate a dodgy circuit, just make sure you have left the car door open, if you o0en the door after leaving it for 30 min the car will wake up again, open the bonnet, open a door and leave it, you will see on the multimeter the current draw will drop, hopefully to <100mA. a quick and easy test is to see if the cluster tunes off after about 25min the screen should be off, if its not then something might be keeping the car alive, if your not doing long drives it could simply just not have enough time to fully charge it.

  26. I'm not sure what measurement your working in with those values but its been a long time since I have done a compression test. As far as I can remember you may need to disconnect the coil and remove the spark plugs and also pull out the fuel pump fuse, this will stop fuel going into cylinders and making mess when your testing. If you do 2 test one dry and one wet you will check 8 readings 4 on each test. The dry test start from cylinder 1 and connect your compression gauge and turn the engine over about 5 goes and take the reading, Do this for the other three cylinders working in order (example 2,3,4) . Then do the wet test which is the same only squirt a few drop of engline oil (not too much) into cylinder one and connect the compression guage again and turn over engine. On the 5th crank stop and take the reading. Do this in turn for the other 3 cylinders. when you have this done you should have 2 tests a dry and a wet with 4 readings each, (** Table below is only an example using the values you give) Test Cy1 Cy2 Cy3 Cy4 Dry 12.0 12.5 12.5 12.5 Wet 12.9 12.9 12.8 12.9 Now what you need to look for is consistency along the cylinders on each test. The wet test will rise the values a little as the oil will seal any piston ring to up the reading on the test. As a rule of thumb some say you can have 15% -30% difference between your highest and lowest reading, so basically if you are saying you are getting 12.5 15% of this is 1.875. so if we minus that from your highest 12.5 -1.875 we get 10.625. Now compare that with your lowest reading with is 12.0 and its higher than 10.625 (the 15% margin). so In this example I would say that the engine compression is ok, No I only am going from an old method I used to use on my escort and fiesta days from the 1990's but it always seemed to work out fine. although others here in the forum may be fit to give more detailed advice on compression tests and what the actual margin is although 15% I would say should still be ok to work with. Also your spark plugs should give a good indication of the condition of your engine if you look at the ends of them, pay attention the the colour and condition of each plug. Low power could be caused by a few things on your car so your should check all of them when you get the compression checked. Fuel pump pressure, air intake , Vacuum leaks and coil pack are main area to look at as well. Also the car may be in LIMP mode which should show a EML light on the dash as well, so In this case a good code reader or forscan should be useful to see whats happening. Hope this helps.

  33. Put a jubilee clip on the throttle body hose, as it was missing.......and the car is booked for smart repair at the end of the month. :) front bumper is being painted and repaired, all the previous touch up paint is getting cleaned up and blended in. Rust under wing mirror is being treated and then painted. Any other chips or scratches are being touched in. Then the whole car will be mopped. Decided to go down this route, as didn't want the cost of different panels being fully painted and blended in. Then someone open a door into it, in a car park or something......Just want it clean and tidy. :) Only down side is I can't polish it till its done now lol

  34. I want the background the same colour as my car and the writing in either chrome or black. My car is a quite unique colour though, Ford call it Ivory but people mistake it for gold, beige or even green sometimes! I can't find any at all on Amazon. Beginning to give up hope. :-(

  37. Take a decent in-the-know car person with you to give it a check over and too check the cars history/paperwork/previous circumstances/finance/hpi etc. Shouldn't be too many issues with the age and mileage but that obviously depends on the dealer selling it. Should still be under warranty etc too.

  44. So, been driving this to lots of meets and shows lately...and it's awesome tbh... Definitely not wanting another GTi6 anytime soon lol! Current average is apparently 32.5mpg which I can't complain about, that's about what I used to average in 1.8 306s, GTi6s never passed 30mpg lol. Final parts arrived today - not overly happy about the lack of box and damaged paint on the filter considering it was from fordpartsuk but I suppose it'll work just as well lol. Had to use them as seem to have lost touch with my usual Ford supplier. Found the sump plug was rounded in the 'tighten' direction so knew it'd be a 'word I cant say on here'...I ended up rounding it more. :( So borrowed a mates oil suction pump and will do it that way instead! Changed the coolant res cap that explodes on every removal... New one I know you'll probably hate these dust caps but I like them, and dilligaf carries on the colour theme too. Caliper looks pretty bad but it's only brake dust/disc rust lol. Still got a leaky tyre that I really need to do something about, but it does seem to hold air for a few days which is weird, roughly 12psi after 4 days and being extra load don't look any different lol, I can just feel it in the steering so pump it up a couple of times a week. Had a proper look for a puncture but couldn't see one, valve doesn't seem to leak. But I did notice this... :s The edgewear is from the previous poor tracking but do you reckon that damage will have gone right through the tyre?? Also got rid of the wonky bent plates for some pressed ones. This is the second set after the first set I bought didn't have the BS number or post code so I got a refund on them...and now have a spare pair of useless plates lol. Sad times in the fuel department though, promised myself I wouldn't buy more than one tankful a month...didn't realise how easily I'd use a tank in it! :s Probably shouldn't go further than that though lol.

  46. Finally got rid of the horrific dash this evening!! It's no secret I cant stand anything non-standard inside my cars lol, but why people colour code dash's I don't know, worst part is it was shiny so reflecting off the windscreen and obviously the paint all cracked in the heat. Then of course there's the single DIN stereo in a double DIN hole with one of those cheap, nasty, useless cubbys, neither of which fit the adapter properly, and obviously you can't use the steering controls and end up with no clock display and a gaping hole on the dash computer...so yeah, people go to a lot of time and expense to ruin things and I really don't get it... Before Removed New stuff in, yay! :D Better already...but I don't have any Ford specific stereo keys so better make sure the code works before pushing it home lol. Bought it cheap to due to lack of code...no problem though. Woop, code works, radio works...miles better reception and sound quality than the aftermarket crap!! Wasn't expecting this though lol, thought the time would pop up there, not the station...cant really see the point haha, the Focus doesn't do that! All standard again, so much nicer, best thing I've done to it I think lol!! The awful dash and rubbish stereo will be for sale if anyone wants them...I'm no salesman as you can tell haha. Also, could one of the staff move this thread to the 'build thread' forum, didn't even realise we had one of those lol. @alexp999 or @stef123 maybe? Not really sure who else is staff on here, I don't get into forum politics lol.

  47. Just had proper 4 wheel alignment done...Surprising how much better it drives when the wheels are pointing the same way. Steering wheel is dead straight now and there's no wheel wobble up to...err...70 of course. Seriously though, this is the first time I've actually been pleased with wheel alignment, definitely worth paying extra for it done properly rather than through one of the chains imo!!

Rocker cover fitted, then fitted the inlet manifold. Head on. Getting there. Then a step backwards, tighten inlet manifold, carb was fowling rocker cover. All looked ok, then ping! Update on the car. All prepped. First coat of primer.
