Thanks all for the messages (even the sarcasm from Wes! ), just home now after spending 6 hours in hospital... Extended throughout the afternoon due to them thinking I might have damaged my kidneys somehow. Thankfully a CT scan proved negative and although they wanted to keep me in overnight for observation, that wasn't happening!! What I need is a cup of tea and my own bed.6 points

Section 47 of the Road Traffic Act (1988) applies. It is not illegal to have a vehicle without a current MoT parked on a public highway however it is illegal to drive it unless going directly to a pre-booked MoT. Sent from my SM-G930F4 points

What's happening to the car now? I hope they're recovering it and leaving it outside your neighbours for the insurance assessor....3 points

I'm now starting the 10th week of my diet and Tuesday is my weekly measurement and stats day. Last week, I've lost another 0.5% of body fat and gained 0.2% muscle mass, my girth is 12mm less again, I seem to have settled into losing 12mm a week at the moment. This is third week it's been 12mm! If he goes to a toddler group, you could work out some complicated mathematical formulae that contained "Plus" and the answer was in fact "8" and use it to confound all the other parents and staff, with your "maths genius son"3 points

Don't forget to factor in the other option, if you win the Euromillions tonight its then- 0 Days Notice! Fat chance of that though with the new odds so back to 1 weeks notice!3 points

I'd say it was a week's notice, as the three months probationary period isn't up. The month's notice comes into force, only after the three months of probationary has ended, which it clearly hasn't after nine weeks2 points

Not sure if anyone has posted about next years Ford Fair yet but the date has been announced as Sunday 6th August. Looks like ticket prices have gone up a bit £23 for clubs and £33 including camping. Public tickets are £25 Link here http://www.fordfair.co.uk/fordfairhome1 point

Does anyone know what information if any, the emergency assist feature stores in the event of an accident/crash? A car recently drove into the back of our focus and the insurance are asking for the information from the device. i have contacted ford via telephone and also been into my local dealer, who also don't seem to know? any help would be greatly appreciated 👍1 point

I gave up doing 1/8 buggy and truggy stuff. Moved onto 1/5 scale for a while. Started off with a Baja SS kit and also a losi 5T. I absolutely loved my Losi stuff, had spares for absolutely everything and barely ever needed any, bearings were the most common failures. The losi 8ight buggy and truggy took some beatings every weekend too! Ive had various other bits n pieces and electric stuff in between. Got kinda bored of them and moved onto helicopters. Still have a few of those, biggest one is a blade 450x. when I was younger, my dad used to scratch build all sorts of model boats, machine parts etc. I won the Scottish steering and docking championship back in 2005 lol.1 point

The lights under the screen going out is a known software bug, they'll update it and fix it no problem. Take it back and it'll get sorted :)1 point

The relays are indeed part of the GEM and not easily replaceable. Not returning to park is usually a motor issue though in my experience. You seem to be missing the front fog light light from the dash, that's a green one. Unless your model didn't come with fronts?1 point

Blimey, sorry to hear that Jamie. Glad you're OK. At least you had a strong old Merc protecting you, the 405 might not have stood up so well, and I know you would be even more gutted if that was written off. Stay positive.1 point

The additions to the car look great bud, I am a sucker for carbon bits and when I had my Fiesta I also got some carbon wing mirror caps! In terms of ideas for the engine bay, you could invest in a new screw kit which brightens up those lacking stock screws-sounds a small thing to change but really does make a difference, would probably go with a red set! On top of this you can also invest in an engine bay dress up conduit kit, these are about £12 on ebay and just go over the top of the original wiring in the engine bay and again can have custom colours. I did both mods on my Fiesta project page which is linked on this forum, you could head over and check it out. Made quite a few mods to mine, so you may even gather some more ideas or inspiration!1 point

Ouch, glad to hear you're okay. Damage to the car made me think it was much more serious. Did you end up in it on its side, or was it moved like that after?1 point

Having texted a link to this thread to my colleague this morning who deals with our HR, she too, say it's a week. So far, the Vauxhall manager is all alone, like a lost sock in the wash, in their interpretation of the contract as a months notice: everyone else says it's a week. I thought that was the case, but some councils do have co-mingling bin policy that others don't with some waste. It gets sorted and separated by their processor later.. Worcestershire may be one that co-mingles WEEE with general waste, at the point of collection Poole Borough Council accepts laminated Tetra cartons and laminated paper in the recycling bin, they seem to be alone on that. All the other neighbouring councils state it's a general non-recyclable waste. This year, they also started accepting PS food cartons and trays, included the blended ones! A minority of councils accept PS but hardly anyone wants the blends, as they're hard to process That is most unfortunate.1 point

Thanks Peter, still haven't got the injector loom in the post to try as a replacement.1 point

What were the codes? For some sensors, there are two sorts of code, Range/Performance vs. High/Low circuit. High/Low circuit codes are more likely to be hard wiring or sensor failure (out of range) faults. Range/performance faults can be a minor fault (drift etc) in the sensor, poor (but still working) connections, or a fault somewhere else altogether that make the ECU think the sensor might be faulty. Also there are likely to be two IAT sensors. One before the turbo, that may be part of the MAF, and one after the turbo, near the inlet manifold. If the disconnected duct is upstream of the air filter, then I can not see it having any effect. The MAF will be downstream of the air filter. If the MAF was disconnected when the ignition was on at any time, then a MAF DTC, (and an IAT DTC if the IAT is part of the MAF), are likely to have been stored. I had that just the other day when I disconnected my 2nd IAT & just cycled the ignition on to run a test. Dodgy earths, or even dodgy batteries, can cause a wide range of errors. But this all looks a bit too specific & consistent to me, for that. If you have changed the injector loom, and the fault is becoming rather permanent, then I think suspicion must switch back to Injector no.3 itself, unfortunately.1 point

14.1 clearly says it. In a probationary period less than one month no notice. More than one month 1 weeks notice. That is the only bit that affects you. Are you still under probation? yes. Have you worked more than one month? Yes Answer: one week notice. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk1 point

I think you will find the legal definition is "to use or keep a car on a public highway" it needs to be taxed insured and MOT'd. Therefore not having an MOT is illegal for the vehicle to be kept or used on a public highway. https://www.gov.uk/report-no-mot The maximum fine is £1000 for no MOT and as such in Jamie's case not worth a risk of a fine that is more than the value of the car or the repairs it requires. As the driver of a vehicle it is your repsonibility to ensure it is roadworthy at all times, taxed insured and current MOT, you as the driver should know when the MOT is due and should take reasonable steps to ensure it is done early enough and have funds to ensure the car is in a roadworthy condition. What the law states and what people do and or get away with it neither here nor there. If the car is on a driveway or a private road then the MOT issues is irrelevant as it's not a public highway.1 point

Because I know it will likely need £200-300 of work and didn't have that money on my last pay cheque, thanks to all the bills I have to pay because my mother yet again jeapordised the house-hold finances by leaving her job. So yes, doing it a few weeks ago was the original intention, but selfish people seem to have a habit of being selfish and leaving everybody else to take up the slack.1 point

Technically it's not legal to park on a public road without MOT, the insurance may also be void if anything happened to it. However are you suggesting the neighbours know the expiry of your MOT and are waiting for it to run out? I've known plenty of people drive around without MOT for months because 'they don't send you a reminder' lol. Don't even get points for no MOT, it's tax and insurance you'll usually get pulled for. Personally I'd stick it in the car park out of the way but I really doubt you'd have any issues with it.1 point

Having revised my short list again, and again after "test driving" a few saws at a local tool shop yesterday I went with Makita in the end, but not the LS0815FL I had originally short listed; but it's bigger brother the LS1018L (which has replaced the very popular LS1013) http://www.makitauk.com/products/saws/mitre-saws/slide-compound-mitre-saw/ls1018l-260mm-mitre-saw.html. It was only £65 more than LS0815FL But had a much better build quality feel about it, obviously a greater capacity with a 260mm blade and is double mitre saw. Which makes life easier1 point

As they get older the presents get smaller but far more expensive. Then there's the other costs like helping them with the first car and in my daughters case I still pay for her vocal lessons (she's a singer). This year she wanted a load of recording gear so she could record her own music videos. That's everything from a Studio Mike to a quality camera. I hope it starts to pay back one day soon.1 point
