  1. I do like spending 3½ hours in the delightful company of Pipper the springer spaniel. http://www.margaretgreenanimalrescue.org.uk/41870 We bonded instantly (as I did with Brandy 16 years ago), we then had a 2 hour walk around the dog walking paddocks, followed by an hour of play and cuddling. Like a cat, she likes to be cuddled: with her sitting on your lap and nuzzling, And we then had another hours walk, before I had to hand her back, for the visiting time period was closing, for the day. I told the rescue centre I would like to offer her a forever home and for them, to begin the rehoming process. I couldn't have found a better new companion I going to see her tomorrow for another session, and hopefully daily, until the rehoming process concludes and she finally comes to stay

  4. Due to time constraints, I didn't get to take as many pictures as I would have liked. One of each bulb in... After messing with the ISO on the camera to capture the lenses properly... Halogen. Matches the DRL. LED. Doesn't match DRL, but I can live with that. Light difference shining into garage... Both in... Silvatec front indicators if anyone's interested... Rears... Also done the wing mirror indicators but never took pictures. And the new car itself. Now got 420 miles on it. (Pics before bulb changes) Paul.

  5. There are indeed. As it happens, tomorrow, I'm going to meet, walk and play with a springer spaniel, at a local rescue centre, who needs a new forever home. http://www.margaretgreenanimalrescue.org.uk/41870

  7. Is that why they have so many cheap newish cars for sale nowadays? Do they secretly pass on problems to unsuspecting car buyers simply because they are too clueless to fix the problems themselves? lol

  12. My mum got hers from there. She's a volunteer for them, collecting from the mgft food bin at the local supermarket. I've dropped off the stuff at Bere Regis quite a bit. My mum also got her latest cat from the Church Knowle branch. Great charity. They even let me behind the scenes for my school coursework when they were having the kennels built.

  13. She's a little cutie. I have a real soft spot for Springers having had one for 6 years now (officially called Jedi but I call him Jed). I love their drive, energy, cheekyness and eagerness to please. I hope you are a good fit for each other and go on to write a new life chapter together. Sent from my SM-G930F

Extremely simple, easy yet effective mod! Looks brilliant Anyone looking to know how just ask and I'll write a guide. Can't be bothered with a guide if nobody will read it that's all :p

  17. Yep, take the exhaust apart and smear a small amount on the smaller diameter part of the sleeve joint and then slide the next section over it and fit the clamp. i tend to cure the paste with a blow torch or heat gun whatever is handy as I find it always seems to wash out otherwise.

  25. Have just spotted in the forum that you can't use ELM 327 on a mk1 .... No idea where you heard about the ELM cables not giving you the 'true' picture. Many on the forum including myself use one without any problem to diagnose error codes. (Mine is a mk2 facelift though) http://www.spanglefish.com/tunnelratelectronics/

  28. I don't like the fecking tool that was driving this Discovery the other day and decided to cut me up turning into a junction. Is the number plate illegal? It's insured and taxed as L1NTA.

  29. The IC & ECU need to talk over the HS-CAN bus to authorise the PATS (immobiliser), so this is the worst bit of the IC problem. It caught me too. First in Tesco car park, but it did eventually get going, then later at home just before setting off. Look under a strong light with a magnifier, for any dark lines around the edges of the solder joints, where it may have cracked or separated from the pin. There is a 120 ohm resistor on the IC pcb, and another on the ECU pcb. When the HS-CAN bus is connected from end to end, then you get both in parallel, so 60 ohms. An open circuit at any point will mean the meter only reads one, hence 120 ohms. If it reads 120 ohms, and still reads 120 ohms with the IC disconnected at its socket, then is pretty positive proof the problem is in the IC, since the diagnostic connector is right next to the IC, and the 120 ohms it is still reading must be the one on the ECU. I found that wiggling the IC connector did make & break the circuit. The best way to re-solder joints is to suck off all the old solder with braid or a solder sucker, then re-make with fresh flux cored solder, allowing several seconds (up to 10 sec is ok) for the joint to wet & tin properly. If still in doubt, repeat the operation.

  47. Son got a quote to have his alloys repaired & repainted £69 each finished in basic silver..... rip off or what So I decided to restored my Son's alloys on his Seat to save himself money! All four was badly curbed and the corrosion on the inside was shocking. Took me a week of hard grafting and now can't move! Stuff used: Car body filler - 4 sheets of wet & dry paper - 2 large cans of Etch Primer - 2 large can of Primer filler - 4 large cans of gun metal spray paint - 2 large can of quality lacquer. Wished I'd taken pictures of his alloys before I started! Cost to do the four wheels - £60 all in.
