  3. I did the cambelt at 118,000. But if your car has an interference engine I would not take any risks and get it done at a dealer. But if you are doing it every 50,000 miles it would seem sound advice to miss the water pump and do the water pump at 100,000.

  5. VOSA can still stop you and test your car at random which is getting more common removing your DPF now is just a bit silly with tests soon being able to check for the DPF properly.

  18. Ok guys, solved it so wanted to help anyone else with problem.I first of all taped down the switch to keep the light off then along the side got a small bit of duct tape and rubbed it as hard as i could against the bulb.I then used that to try to lever the bulb.It moved just slightly which was enough to get an electricians screwdriver under and prize it out.New LED now in and working and matching all the others. Thanks again for all your helpful advice.

  19. No I didn't buy the cover, this was just for the photo I put it on at an angle most times. If you put it on straight it does leave a slight indentation overnight. More additional non-visible security will be coming soon but I won't post details in case some thieving scroat is reading this. It's such a shame we have to spend all this extra just because someone wants what they can't have but better safe than sorry and if they get away with it then I'll have done as much as I reasonably can.

  23. Thanks will do. I went to local garage (King David) who did service and tyres for £422. Car feels so much better now! Can now finally unpeeled my fingers from steering wheel(!)

  24. Which garage did you go to? When you next get the chance to, you might want to inflate your tyres to 32 PSI. Reason is I have the same tyres, and found that they perform best when slightly above Ford's recommended tyre pressure. I personally set mine to 33 PSI, but you might find that a bit OTT and bumpy :) Enjoy!

  25. Thanks I will try disconnecting it,must admit when the light is on it seems a better car for power, on my way to work today it's unbelievable how many times I have to drop a gear to build speed up,it's always seems to come on around 2000 revs in 3Rd gear it's doing my nut in,il try that tomorrow and get back to you

  30. Deffo check for this, mine just needed some Silicone Grease around the washer jets. You'll usually find it's worse when the engine warms up and the water turns to steam and gets in the connection between the leads and plugs. Could also be faulty Coilpack wiring.

  31. Probably best to have full tank fuel too, this has made me doubt the reliability of this engine now, luckily I have a spare car, reliable but it has issues a 2012 Volvo with the 1.6 Ford unit, seriously powerful when it performs.

  32. That would be classed as a modification so you've likely voided your insurance.

  33. Just a bit of background on auto box calibration. The shift points are held on a map/data table and the change of gear is determined by throttle position, engine speed, coolant temperature etc. There is a map/data table for cold temperatures, warming up and fully hot. Probably other maps for conditions such a towing trailers. The cold temperature map will probably let the engine rev a bit higher to achieve warm up quicker. This could be why SlingShot thought the engine was revving too much in the gears on his test drive. On my 1.6 with a torque converter the converter lock-up is suppressed till the engine has warmed up a bit. ScaniaPBman.

  36. They do illuminate when the screens are on, well at least on they mk4 and the fiesta, so no reason to think they won't on the mk5. first thing I do after starting is turn them off unless they are needed.

  37. It might be worth checking if the fuel tank is getting a partial vacuum, blocked vent? Undo filler cap after a run, see if air enters. Filter housing is the most likely, though one person found a perished fuel hose, not visible until removed, of course! One little warning, the Laser priming bulb showing in my photo on your earlier thread was almost totally useless until modified, and then only really worked in conjunction with the good non-return valve I fitted. The valves in it were hopeless. It might just have started a siphon going, but no good for diesel priming. I had to insert o-ring seats into the valves! I have yet to locate a decent priming system. Re. glowplugs, they will only be a problem below about 7C. I have had one or two gone on my 1.8. It fired up ok, but below 7C it ran on about 2 cylinders for 30sec or so, with clouds of smoke. I have replaced one, but not tested yet, no cold weather now!

  38. Under passenger side dash. Look underneath and you should see 2 plastic lugs, pull them off and the insulation will drop to display the fusefox.

  39. Glad to help. The footwell fusebox should be as per the MK2 handbook but some later cars produced at the time when the facelift ones were about to be introduced were given the facelift fusebox instead. Only way to know which you have is to visually inspect the board (hence linking you to both handbooks in order to cover the bases for you). Links to relevant books on ebay if you need them (whichever is relevant)- Early Mk2 book (6M5J-19A321-ADA (CG3505en) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-PRE-FACELIFT-HANDBOOK-OWNERS-MANUAL-WALLET-AUDIO-GUIDE-2004-2008-PACK-/332108486860?hash=item4d533558cc:g:EDMAAOSwal5YCL7p Late Mk2 and facelift (Mk2.5) book (9M5J-19A321-ADA (CG3505en)- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-MK2-2008-2011-FACELIFT-Owners-Manual-Handbook-Audio-Guide-w-Wallet-/252606037147?hash=item3ad07e3c9b:g:t3QAAOSwImRYEPBM

  40. ah ! must be the early as the instruments look the same like the cd player etc

  41. The book you need will depend on which footwell fusebox you have. There is an early and late version (same as facelift mk2). I have PDF copies of both somewhere, I'll link them for you to download when I can locate them. Sent from my SM-G930F

  45. I don't like being inappropriately dressed this afternoon and getting wet. I wrongly believed the Met Office's rain radar, showing a patch of dryness coming across East Dorset between 2-4pm, and didn't wear anything remotely waterproof. The patch of forecasted dryness lasted ½ hour and was followed by another deluge

  46. Hi and welcome. I don't know if you realise but you've landed on the Focus forum. Some here may be familiar with the mk4 Mondeo but you'll reach a wider pool of expertise either in the Mondeo forum here: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/forum/13-ford-mondeo-vignale-club/ or this more active Mondeo forum on a different site: http://www.talkford.com/community/forum/96-ford-mondeo-mk4-2007-2013/ Sorry I can't be more help but hopefully you'll find it on one of the above links. Good luck Edit: As I'm sure you'll be advised, ultimately it's the mechanic's responsibility. The car worked before, it doesn't now. He broke it, he fixes it

  47. If you press the button does the AC light turn off? It will come on automatically if you pass the windscreen icon on the dial (a life saver when your screen suddenly decides to mist up in the middle of driving).
