  2. 2 Tonne is ample, the whole car weighs a lot less than that. (Assuming the 2 tonne rating is a Safe Working Load for the stands, not an actual breaking strain!) Ian (F0CUE) beat me to it with the standard pic., but have never liked the green dots at the front, they look like the front stay just as it goes into the rubber bush, and that puts a lot of strain on the bush. The front is heavy on these, esp. with Diesels. I have moved to using the subframe, next to the round hole where that curved tubular support comes down from above. It looks really strong there. My stands will just fit in there quite firmly. Photo below. It is the big hole, with the raised flange round it. For the back, I use the two strong vertical brackets that stick down, I don't think my stands fit well on the central part of the rear subframe as shown above.

  4. Nearly right! You can state your intention to cancel 14 days after receiving your goods, and then have a further 2 weeks to return them :)

  5. I do like Marlboro's "Pro-Seal"... Accidentally left a pack in the 405's glove compartment for 10 days and they still taste as fresh as the day they were first opened.

  6. Simple answer is in your last post, They've adjusted the tracking, badly! You should have mentioned they were checking the wheel alignment, in your first post.

  7. I have put the switch in the middle of the bedroom and on the wall low down, run 2 cables to the TiVo and i.p camera and 1 to my laptop. realy having onto TiVo don't solve a lot as you only get the remote option as you can't watch recorded item on other devices u.k law,you can only watch on the device you recorded on so Myshows on the recorded stuff won't work on iPad. Also ultra HD 4k on my t.v through netflix and it all works so fast as it shares the connection speed so no buffer at all, just trying to dee Amazon has a good deal at the moment on them. https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-GS305-100UKS-Gigabit-Ethernet-Wallmount/dp/B00TV4A96Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486803627&sr=8-1&keywords=netgear+gs305 Im so MoneySupermarket 🍺 👍

  9. I had exactly that advisory in 2011, when I bought the car. The shock has not failed, has not been replaced & the advisory did not happen again, in the last 6 years. So have a look, do the usual push the car up & down test, then ignore it if no obvious problem is seen. I have also had parking brake below eff. advisory, cured by giving the cables a really good greasing. Take the cables off the rear calipers, so they can be pulled in & out by hand, and it is amazing how much grease you get slowly feed down there. Servicing disks & pads is a doddle on the Focus. I am usually pretty slow at mechanical jobs, but can do an axle in a couple of hours now, easy.

  10. The one tool you will need is a 7mm A/F Hex bit. An Allen key might do it, but a Hex bit that fits into an standard ratchet driver will be much better. That is to remove the caliper guide pins. I posted a few tips here: (You won't need a wind-back tool to inspect the pads, but it is needed to fit new ones) The wheel not turning freely may indicate a bit of grit or rust between pad and disk. Or it could be the caliper piston is sticking, or the guide pins are sticking. The rapid and uneven pad wear suggests sticking pins. Clean & re-fit with suitable silicon or brake rubber grease. If you have to remove the disk, perhaps to inspect or de-rust the inside, the caliper bracket bolts will be tight and stiff (sometimes thread lock is applied). You will need a good, well fitting socket, and maybe an extension tube on the ratchet handle. Inspect the caliper piston dust seal carefully. If intact, then sticking pistons can often be freed by winding in and pumping out a few times. If damaged, then the caliper must be serviced (new seals) or replaced.

  13. Indeed. I totally agree. The Focus it's not a lot bigger than a Fiesta leg room wise. What Ford does is making a bigger car to get extra space, while Vw with the mqb platform makes it smaller on the outside but it's bigger inside. I am.curios to see the new Focus. I hope I get to see the new Fiesta at the Geneva motorshow this year.

  15. Just been for a drive. Mix of 30 and 65 zones. All is well. Nice and solid. Can't comment much on the handling, hasn't really changed as far as I can tell. Feels way better too with the better tread tyres being on the front.

  17. Bluetooth/Voicecontrol or SYNC (depending on production date) was an optional extra which had to be ordered seperately. This option was also included in some option packs. If your car does not have Bluetooth/Voicecontrol or SYNC it simply means that the 1st owner has not selected this option or an option pack that contains this option when the car was ordered.

  19. Have you changed the fuel filter recently? They can be very temperamental with inadequate, restricted flow and entrapped air in the fuel system feeding the HP injection pump. Maybe worthwhile replacing it if it hasn't already been done. They can be tricky to get going afterwards! There are plenty of tips on this forum how to bleed them properly.

  20. There's a old guy in service department at my local ford dealership and he used to wreck my head, Every time id go in and request an ST part he would ask for chassis number then id explain well I don't have an ST but I want to purchase the part for my 1.6tdci he would then tell me it's not listed for that vehicle and it won't fit, Which is complete scutter, I later bought a pirate copy of "Ford etis" which is the complete software system the parts department use which allowed me to browse parts and then go in to Ford and purchase by part number without any sort of explanation and it worked quite well 😅 looks like this, it's also available some place online to download

  22. Like flogger said, Do a search on alloy wheel repairers, there will be someone around your area who will be able to repair it. I had a lexus IS200 when they 1st came out and ended up curbing a wheel a lot worse than yours, it was an dark grey metallic and lexus wanted £400 for a new one, the bodyshop across the road repaired & painted it for £50.

  28. I bought them from sandicliffe shop think they were 280 pounds at the time and they come with the looms and bulbs, Bering in mind this was all before ford gave birth to the Mk3 focus, so there sure to be cheaper now, I had sold my stock 16" snowflake alloys on ebay at the time so rather thsn witdraw the PayPal funds i bought the tail lights. Sandicliffe are a genuine ford dealership but they had a more genuine price than my local ford dealership 😉 I had to wait three weeks for them at the time as they were made to order in Germany. an alternative supplier is European-parts.net there a German based ford enthusiasts parts provider see here: http://www.european-parts.net/product_info.php?info=p835_led-taillights-focus-mk2-fl08.html

  29. I found it was a question of elimination although I have a MK1.The first thing I did was take out the air vents, silicon and pop back in.Then siliconed the mating surfaces on the rear light cluster(a pain if replacing a bulb)and screw plug and screw. If that doesn't work you will have to look deeper. 30. Right, so. The spacers are fitted. Before: Not sure what use those pics with the measuring tape are but it looks professional lol During: And after: All in all, a good mornings work done. I swapped the wheels from the front To the back as well as there's better thread on the rears. I'd say I would have gotten away with 25mm on the rear, for a bit more 'stance'. I'm happy enough for now, haven't driven yet but we'll see what happens. Now to sort out that arch gap.... (PS apologies, car is absolutely filthy. wash day tomorrow)

  33. If you order online with your credit card your consumer rights are extended. If you return item within 14 days of purchase you are entitled to a full refund, you should be put back into the same position before you took out the purchase,it's the law, don't take any nonsense from them, unfortunately sometimes it's hassle and many just give up the pursuit of a few quid. 34. Agree 100% with above post. It's a job that can be easily done by a competent home mechanic but you need a decent set of spring compressors. Fronts took longer only cause you need to remove the entire shock assembly. Took me bout 3hr start to finish but i took my time and cleaned everything up while it as apart etc..

  37. Up here at least the two places never to go for an MOT are main dealers and Kwik-Fit. Both will almost guarantee a fail and charge you the earth for parts and labour to fix the issue(s). An honest independent garage is best, as they have a reputation to keep and won't fail unless there is actually something wrong. That's my experience though, so it could be different where you are.

  38. My Mum had a GSD in the 80's, only ever barked once and made himself jump lol Only ever seen photos, but he was a very handsome dog!! Incredibly well natured too apparently! Went on to become Supreme Champion of Northern Ireland - the judges reckoned he would have done well at Crufts.

  39. Good stuff Lenny, wasn't sure if it was just one of those obvious things so I thought I'd double check, don't want to fry myself or the car. Battery was tricky to get at also.

  42. Piper cams fitted, induction kit fitted and the results are in... She's now doing 136bhp! The guys at the Performance Center in Sunderland where I take the car said it wasn't worth doing a remap of the ECU as there wasn't going to be a lot of gain for the money I would spend. This is one of the reasons I like these guys, honesty. 136bhp isn't a bad figure considering it's a daily driver, it loves to rev and goes mental when you hit the right rev range. It's made it a much more enjoyable car to drive!

  43. My mum's dog always barked at cats and the postman (well anyone at the front door), when he wanted to come in from outside, and would bark on command when you said "who's that?". In his later years now, he barks when he wants to go out and back in, and when he hears strange noises. He is now totally blinded by cataracts brought on by diabetes so is getting quite slow and doddery :(

  47. Want to swap her with my parents' Doberman? That thing gets on my nerves. So much so, I tend to cut visits short as the thing will bark at 5am without fail and I can't get back to sleep! It'll then start whining at 8am, as that's when my dad gets home from work and it wants a walk. It's either a case of drive the 150 miles home or risk having a huge bust up because I'm tired and they seem to treat the thing like their own flesh and blood! Any criticism of the 'parenting' and it's like a slap in the face! Theirs was a rescue dog too and because I don't live with them, I can see the contrast between the relatively well behaved dog they rescued and now. Amazing how dogs work mentally as I think theirs now believes it's the pack leader. When I go down, I shout at it. My mum in particular treats it like a child that has fallen over and cut their knee. I guess what I'm trying to say is - if the dog seems pretty happy, don't knock the fact she doesn't bark! End of rant
