  1. I don't like assembling wardrobes. Had 2 to build and instructions quote 3 1/2 hours per unit. Took me 2 days and a lot of cursing to do one even though I'm pretty good at woodworking and usually enjoy doing flatpack stuff. Super heavy mirrored sliding doors didn't help either. It would be easier if my wife stopped buying so many clothes & shoes [emoji2955] Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

  7. Not at all. I enjoy turning flat boxes into furniture however the people who design the kit seem to delight in making some parts as tricky as possible. Biggest annoyance of the wardrobes is trying to get the back psnels to sit in piddly little grooves. Surely they can come up with a better way of fitting them so you don't need 6 arms and fingers like spiders legs. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

  9. Thank you for your response. I couldnt find a single s max with econetic branding on autotrader or ebay and got worried as to why there arent any for sale but if it was uk model then I am happy with the car. Being a manual its feels quicker than my 2.0 tdci powershift s max which o hadly to sadly sell due to gearbox gone after 32000 miles. Never going to buy an auto again.

  10. Hi New to here but hoping someone could maybe throw some advice my way !?, got 2006 fiesta zetec s,petrol ,it started with a slightly rough idle so sort of like slight coughing but nothing seemed to be affected till one day EML came on so plugged it in and it said O2 sensor bank 1 so changed lambda sensor and seemed little better but then rough idle came back about a few weeks after so plugged it in again and was saying the Lambda sensor again so we assumed maybe a faulty part got a new one put it on same again a little better but not much so decided to change coil pack and leads ,no change but car then started getting worse with coughing and no power then suddenly a surge !, or if you set off from standing it won't accelerate unless you floor it ,even if you are at a steady speed you can feel it being held back then not ,it's very strange as does it everyday but through out a drive it maybe ok but tends to start when your say waiting at a junction and the coughing get worse till it almost cutting out so you have to rev it .Anyway last week plugged it in and it was say body control module defective so we bought a second hand ECU kit off eBay and replaced ECU ,clocks ,ignition barrel and a box that was something to do with immobiliser/alarm ,basically a kit that I read up you needed to change ,so done all that and it's still doing same thing !, any ideas greatly taken ?, as I'm stuck as to what to do now ?, I'm going to plug car in tomorrow to see if any codes there but was wondering if the is something else folk have encountered.thanks πŸ‘

  13. this is unlikely to be it, but is possible. Years ago I had 1984 Mk3 Escort 1.3cvh engine. Problem - when engine was hot, the starter motor seemed to be stuck. It would start when cold. I replaced starter motor and it was OK after that. But wanting to know what was wrong I dismantled the starter motor. There were scraping marks on the big magnets that are fixed on the inside of the cylinder casing and scrape marks on the armature (the bit with the windings on that spins when the starter motor is actuated). As far as I could tell the clearance between the outer magnets and the armature was too small and when hot, the expansion cause the armature to snag the outer magnets too much so the starter would not turn.

  16. TMC may play up?.... would be nice if its not an issue on ford. An explanation of why everything's going to go wrong is is the last link of the first post. This time its a real issue like the millennium bug was expected to be, but wasn't. Some Merc clocks have already lost the plot.

  21. The diagnosis could be correct, but without access to your car to assess it then I'll need to take their word for it. An Indy should be cheaper than that, Β£326 is pretty steep!

  23. A Mondeo is a good shout, my Mum got her 2012 2.0 Ecoboost (the 205ps one with the powershift auto) Titanium X with 65k and a full Ford serivce history for 6.5k back in September to replace her 63 reg C-Max. Such a nice car and seem to be cheaper as big saloons tend to depreciate more here than hatchbacks.

  27. Yup, I'd say if you want a newer Focus go for the MK3.5 (which will be outside of the Op's stated budget) or choose something else (sadly).

  28. Just found the chip, can this be removed from the key and transfeered to the new one?

  30. The 8v engine in the Mk3 is more reliable (though has a weird low speed driveability issue), but the cars themselves are utter crap. You'll be forever chasing water leaks, electrical faults, air con leaks, clutch faults and as they're getting older suspension bushes and snapped springs are becoming more common as well. Some people get lucky, there are a few good ones, but I'd suggest an ex fire one probably won't be!

  40. P0299 is an irritating one, it took me ages to find the cause on my car, mainly because out of blind foolishness I overlooked the most obvious cause, even though it was staring me in the face. The little hose that seems to have caused it is right at the top of the engine on the 1.8! I was so sure I had looked at it that I ignored it. P0299 just means pressure reading from the MAP is too low. It could even be a blocked air filter, that would stack up with it happening only at high rpm & power. If the car pulls well at lower rpm, then it seems the turbo is spooling up ok. If I recall, on the 1.6 the turbo actuator rests in the max boost position, and it needs vacuum on the actuator to move it to the no boost position for idling. So it should cycle when the ignition is turned on, or when the engine starts. That is one test of the actuator & vacuum system. Blockages anywhere in the air intake system, including intercooler, throttle valve, inlet manifold, valve passages etc, could all cause pressure drop at high airflow. So could blockages in the exhaust, like DPF or cat. The DPF pressure drop is monitored, but if your DPF system is not working or disabled, like a broken hose to the DPF DP sensor, then that could do it. The MAP sensor on the 1.6 is near the throttle valve & dipstick, see:

  42. I've got a powershift gearbox, just had the fluid changed. Made a huge difference. I took mine to the Automatic gearbox specialist in Hilton Derbyshire . When I went to collect the car the chap showed me a bench full of powershift boxes all in pieces. I told him mine was jerky at junctions etc. Luckily the fluid change stopped it. He did show me the plastic ring on the gearbox and showed me how much slack was in the ring, he said that was the cause of the jerky issues. When was the fluid last changed. Got mine done for Β£240 Inc vat, and the gearbox was reset. These guys really know their stuff

  45. sounds like it could be the central locking solenoid inside the door or the wiring to it. If I understand you correctly the key fob locks and unlocks the drivers door but only locks the passenger door, it does not unlock passenger door. actually thinking about it as I type, on my car (2015 fiesta) if I press key fob once it only unlocks the drivers door, it I want it to unlock all doors I have the press the key fob twice in quick succession. It's designed like that. It can be altered to unlock all doors on one press but I can't remember how, I know it is in the instruction book somewhere.
