Acceleration Problem/slides Lack Of Traction

new to this so please forgive me.

when i accelerate in my escort si the front wheels seem to slide all over the place, like there is lack of traction, also if i go over a drain or something similar at slow speed it slides, someone said it could be wishbones need replacing could this be the case and if so how much would ford charge to do the work? how long labour wise?. one of my front tyres has lost its tread seriously quickly in the last 2 months compared to the other side so i need to get it done whatever it could be.

any ideas, suggestions, clues?
