mondeo de-cat

Featured Replies

hi has anyone fitted a de-cat pipe to a mondeo 2.0 tdci, did it make much differance to power or ecconomy and which is the best to buy. thanks dave

There will be an improvement in both power and response from the throttle. not huge gains maybe 3 to 8 bhp and you get more turbo "whistle" when accelerating, can not say which is the best but make sure its a full bore pipe and not a restricted pipe as some are.

thanks for that would you know if it would cause any harm to the turbo over time because of less back pressure thanks dave

does anyone know the rules on these? someone told me that you will still pass an mot with these as diesels are tested differently to petrol ? surely you need a cat?

yup as already said it is legal to decat a diesel. petrol engines are tested on C02 levels etc whilst diesels are tested for smoke.

it should just be a piece of pipe with a couple of flanges welded on either end or something to that affect. the price may be because some are just mild steel and others are stainless? i'd go for the stainless if you can.
