Laptop On Its Way Out?

Featured Replies

For the past few days my Acer laptop has had a slight problem. Occasionally the screen will flicker about. It does not flicker between picture and blackness though, more just a jumpy web page.

Could this be a loose connection on its way out? The laptop is a good few years old and I am planning a new buy in the summer but would like this one to last until then.

Thanks :D

im a bit of a pc modder so i dont deal much with laptops. recently my gfs laptop would flicker here and there. so i gave it a good clean out (loads of dust) and it seems to have cured it. so i can only guess it was overheating a bit.

Thanks,

Will give this a go.

Did you go down the pre rinse, clay, wax stage or just the hoover? ;)

well i gave it the 2 bucket method and then just threw some megs something or other at it, nice and shiny but a few streaks here and there - not bad for a laptop ay? oh and it tried the clay on it but it didnt do much for it.

some of that 'air in a can' stuff is handy for clearing out the dust from computers otherwise do what i done once, blew 100psi at a pc motherboard from my air compressor  and the dust - what dust!

I am going to stop before i actually do detail my laptop

if the notebook has a an Nvidia Card, might want to check with Acer as there is a know issue wit hthe GPU on the cards.

this can be caused and can been seen by things like flickering screen, Artifacts on the screen, and distortion.

if the gard is onboard the motherboard then i suggest new notebook unless it has warranty as this will cost you as there will be the cost for the part (expensive) and for the engineer (even more expensive).

Or if your a rogue like me, you have house insurance, and i was walking up the stairs and oops i dropped it, coverage done!
