The MK2 focus was 1.4 litre, yeah it was pretty heavy alright. Only reason I got it was because I got a great deal and only needed a small run around at the time. My mk1.5 focus was 1.6 litre (god I miss that, now that was a fast little thing)

The monde is mk4 (Pictures above in OP) Don't really care about the plates on the old cars (don't own them any more)

Are they easy to remap? Worth remapping I need more economy than power tbh :L

Remapping is always good for the economy, just as long as you dont get carried away with your right foot! :)

If you can get more torque out of her at a given RPM then it can result in better MPG as you can drop down the RPM a bit and achieve the same result...that makes sense?

you can get up to around 10% on a good map.  If I dont push it, I can hit 64MPG... but thats no fun so so I'm happy to get 55 and have fun :)  the Mondeo I'm getting averages at 45, with some mapping and a shot or two of 2 stoke oil I'm hoping to get that up to about 50 ish.

You might hear of economy maps which can improve the economy even further but its not worth it, car needs to be fun to drive!

Agreed with that, Do i just need to install something to the ECU to remap her or would I need to go to a specialist ? I take that it is worth doing then?

there are ways and means to DIY it but the question you really need to ask yourself is, how much risk you willing to take with your car, because if you do it wrong or something happens, you can kiss goodbye to using your car anytime soon. for that reason alone, unless you have the proper kit, id get a company to do it. an by company I mean a legit business with an address and insurance, not some 15 year old kid with a laptop. Bluefin make a plug in and go device which is safe to flash your ECU with, you can also get piggyback ECUs which is a box that overrides the ECU, some folk swear by them, others dont like them, they seem to be a bit of a marmite subject. personally ive always favoured getting a proper remap rather than fooling the ECU with a box. I was going to get a Bluefin for the Mondeo but they dont do a EGR delete option so it will probably be a take it to a garage job.
