Something Dont Look Right

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Was just checking out an AC issue that I was having and came across something that did not look right with the hose that comes out of the bottom right hand corner of the expansion tank.

There is a hose clip about 6-8 inches away from the expansion tank that does not clip in to anything else and upon further tracing there is one that should be attached to this hose near the rad but isnt.

It looks like the hose has been routed incorrectly as I think it should go below the rad top hose but it is going above it. See pics which will hopefully explain what I mean.

This is a 12 plate 1.0 ecoboost (125), Any ideas??

Thank in advance.

I believe these cars (1litre ecoboost)as part of a recall had a plastic pipe replaced with a rubber hose as the plastic pipe would fracture and lose coolant and the engine would be damaged by overheating before the coolant leak was noticed.

In the top picture I believe the hose with GP13212 on it is the new style of hose/pipe

The hose you mention. What is it's precise name? I have the same rubber one. Not sure why they replaced the plastic ones because the rubber one i have has fractured and has emptied the coolant everywhere. Can't find the name anywhere to buy one to replace it. Thanks in advance

They're all just called 'hose' on the parts catalogue.  Post a picture of the one you need.  The one with the arrow in the first post was always rubber.  The one that's been replaced is the smaller one with the T piece in it.

But they eventually break as well.  The best option is to upgrade to the Mk3 facelift pipework instead.

It's this one I need 😄

Yeah, that's the one I linked above, design changed for recall repair many years ago.  Currently £33 on ebay with the discount code.  It will eventually break again if you keep the car long enough.

Can I just replace this part or its the whole thing?

The whole thing is supplied as one assembly, that pipe isn't sold separately.

(PS - That's one of the better temporary fixes I've seen on these. )

Thank you. I'll get it ordered .
