Keys

Featured Replies

We have just bought a 2011 ford transit. It came with 2 keys. The blue key with the central locking and a normal black key. Only the black key will start van. Any ideas why

It needs the immobiliser chip programming to the car.
Probably a replacement key that the previous owner never bothered setting up properly.
See a decent auto locksmith.

Thanks. I will have to try that but I bet it's not cheap

Far cheaper than a new key from a deslership for sure.

I recently bought my 2005 Fiesta with only 1 key.  After being tempted to part with at least £100 to get a spare, my trawling through Google led me to a free program called Forscan.  I purchased 2 pre-cut chipped keys and was able to program them to the car using my laptop and a bluetooth OBD scanner that cost me about 3 quid.  It may be worth going down this route before paying megabucks.
