Heater blower replacement to fix fans only working on 4?

So I've had the common fan issue in my fiesta 1.4 petrol 2004. The fans were only running on max 4. I switched out the heater blower motor resistor and it fixed it for a few weeks. Then it bust again. I'm guessing the fuse on it goes. Wondering what others have done? Has anyone tried taking out the heater blower motor and oiling bearings or buying a new heater blower motor? Since the motor must be drawing too much current. I've seen other used ones don't cost too much.
