Missing a fuel filter can anyone help?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone i’m new the forum and have recently become the owner of  a neglected 2006 fiesta zetec S petrol.

I’m suffering with an apparent very slight intermittent mis fire and rough idle.

i’ve changed the coil, leads, plugs... removed and cleaned throttle body and map sensor recently renewed the exhaust system and run a few fuel injector cleaning treatments through in a tank of petrol. But still have the issue! So today I went to change the fuel filter only to find there isnt one, but two pieces of rubber hose jubilee clipped onto the pipework leading into the fuel tank where the filter is supposed to be.

So Am i looking in the wrong place for the filter or has someone bypassed a filter?

Also does anyone have any suggestions surrounding the mis fire? Any help is appreciated thanks!

Try a massive dose of fuel system cleaner.  BITD my Bothers XJ6 had a slight misfire and I couldn't get a grip on it.  4 bottles of Redex dumped in the tank as a last resort and a dozen miles later it was cured.

If that doesn't work, throttle bodies and throttle pedals can go bad on them.  Also check the compression, check you haven't got a burned valve or some such.

Thanks for the reply i’m at a loss now myself as to what it could be! Goong to have to book it in for a day in the garage see what they say! Whats so difficult is that I haven’t got other symptoms associated with it.

any idea though where the fuel filter should be?

I believe it's underneath, close to the tank, but I'm not certain .  Memory is hazy.
