14 plate fiesta CD Unit upgrade questions?

Featured Replies

Hello people, I can't seem to quite find what I am looking for on the internet perhaps my search terms arnt right. Anyway, I figured if there's anywhere to ask it'll be a forum, so here I am.

The details: just got a fiesta style 14 plate. Would like to go hands free when I had the idea of upgrading the head unit to phone accepting as it currently has the basic one.

So apparently I don't have a speaker prebuilt into the car, it normally would be by the cabin light would it not? (There's no grill or anything) unless I'm wrong.

Anyway, where would I get a kit from to put a speaker in it, and could I put the speaker elsewhere? Like in the steering wheel area?

Next question would be, how hard would it be to switch the units?I saw some other posts but it wasn't clear. Is it just plug and play? Or is there anything else needed? Like is the Bluetooth built into the second unit? Or do I need one of those things under the glove box?

Im sure you guys here will be able to point me in the right direction :)

I've just done the same thing to my 13 plate. I've changed the basic Ford radio that has no hands free to a Sony unit that supports it and dab. I have found that after changing the units the radio still won't have Bluetooth connectivity. Maybe an extra unit that the steering controls connect too? Would be good to get some answers here.

Hey, I was speaking to an auto elec, you'll need to pick up the Bluetooth module, look under your glove box see if you've got one.. the way he was talking he thinks I might not need to change the head unit and just get the module and mic. Will see. I'm on holiday as of now so I'll speak to him again in a couple weeks..
