1.5 tdci IS IT TRUE ???

Featured Replies

Got talking someone who,s a turbo specialist...was telling him that its a good thing that ford don't use 1.6tdci unit anymore as lots of problems...he then tells me the latest unit 1.5tdci is a ***** Renault unit ?? Is this true ??

Partially true the 1.5 unit is also used by datsun, and mercedes in various modified forms valve  configuration being one of the big differences.

It's not true...  The Renault/Nissan/Dacia 1.5 DCi isn't the same engine as the Ford 1.5TDCi.  The Ford one is a newer version of the 1.6TDCi.

Just because displacement is the same doesn't mean its the same engine.

The Ford 1.5 TDCi, is a "fork" of the design of the 1.6 TDCi/HDI jointly developed with PSA (Peugeot).

PSA continued to develop it as a 1.6, Ford downsized, and it's now only a Ford engine, (although probably the odd part still the same as the 1.6 PSA).

The 2.0 TDCi is still very much the DW10 PSA engine though.

I stand corrected
