Mondeo 2.0 tdci problems

Featured Replies

Hi all am new to the Ford seen my first ever ford and it’s not looking good so far lol, I have a 59 plate mondeo 2.0 tdci (pug 2.0hdi if am right) 140 bhp model, when I am driving it always pushes out black smoke and is down on power, no boost leakes no splits in pipes no oil on pipes but under the inlet manifold where the egr pipe bolts on there is oil been pushed out seems to be the o rings that mate to the head, I have disconnected the egr at the plug as I was getting a jumping when ithe car was pulling away and letting off and coming down the revs, now it’s unpluged it doesn’t judder anymore, and not as much smoke but stil flat as a *****, no power over 2,800 revs any ideas people

Do you have the EML on, have you had the fault codes read

  • Author

P0406,P0299

P0460 faults include

  • Failed EGR valve
  • Excessive carbon buildup
  • Open or short in the wiring harness
  • Poor electrical connection
  • Leak in the vacuum line to EGR valve
  • Faulty turbo or supercharger

P0299 Faults include

  • Low oil pressure in the engine
  • Fault in the EGR system
  • Air or intake leak or restriction
  • Faulty boost pressure sensor

so my first port of call would be the EGR valve  and it ancillaries

Egr blanking kit ?

The EGR needs to be plugged back in and faults read again, the codes you're getting there are caused by it being unplugged.

I missed that it had been unplugged, whoops
