Problem with speedometer/milage

Featured Replies

has anyone had a similar problem..

whilst driving yesterday my speed needle dropped to zero then shortly after my mileage disappeared and was replaced by dashes, several minutes later all came back on, then half hour later it happened again, thankfully its not happened again, probably due to the fact there not working at all.. other than that all else seemed fine with the running of the engine and driving, with the new exception that the engine display light has come on today.. I'm hoping thats just telling me that the speedos not working.. if anyone can share any possibilities of what this issue is and if theres anything i can do before i go to the garage on  monday i would be most grateful thanks.

Sounds like the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is playing up. It's mounted in the gear box, to remove (from memory) you need to extract a metal clip and pull it out (sealed with an O ring)

Definitely sounds like the VSS to me.
