Loose wing mirror

Featured Replies

Just asking on here for a little help or some advice. I have a 2010 tdci fiesta. Driving back from Scotland today I was pulling off he slip road when a lorry pulled across in to my lane in order to avoid him hitting me and causing major damage I had to swerve and clipped my passenger wing mirror on a road works cone. This knocked the cover off my mirror but everything else was intact. I drove a little further down so I could pull on the the hard shoulder and see what had happened. The glass and the surrounding area is all fine. I drove back to where it had happened and was able to retrieve the cover. This was all after contacting my insurance and getting nowhere! I had to tape the mirror in place to do so. Having retrieved he cover I was able to put it on but it's not clipping in properly by there are no cracks that I can see. Where he mirror is attatched to the car is a little loose too. I'm just wondering if this is fixable or is going to cost me to replace the full mirror because I am clueless. I'm thinking of calling the garage to get it checked out.

thanks

I wouldn't bother with insurance for the sake of a wing mirror cover. Your excess is probably higher than the cost of replacement not to mention the loss of no claims pushing your premium up next year.

If it's not clipping in properly the it must be damaged in some way or another. Unless you're resourceful with a plastic welder then you will need a new cover (around £30 on eBay painted to your colour). Or you will need a complete new wingmirror.
