Mk2 diesel Focus engine noise.

Featured Replies

My 1.8 diesel 55 Focus Mk2 has developed a problem which I thought might be the turbo charger. The symptoms were a bang and hiss whilst driving slowly around a corner. It sounded like a puncture but on restarting the car it wouldn't perform, requiring me to limp home with a smoking exhaust. Having removed and inspected the turbo there didn't appear to be any undue play, so I replaced it. I've since developed a high pitched shreek when the car is revved on idle. I hevent run it yet being concerned that I might knacker it for good. The car has only done 88k miles, if this helps. I'm worried that there is no lubrication getting to the replaced turbo, and more concerning is what the problem might be. Any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. I could send a video given a contact.

On the first place i would have thought burst tubo boost pipe, as to thecrest not got a clue

Thanks for the reply. If the turbo boost pipe is the large one at the top/back/left hand side, then it isn't that. I changed that a while back due to it splitting, this being a common fault. My issue is lower down the back where accessibility is difficult. Sound just like a water pump bearing, but it's in the wrong place.
