paint finish / overspray

Featured Replies

I have a 2010 focus tdci titanium in metallic grey. Shortly after purchase, I noted that several panels (bonnet and roof) felt rough or gritty including the windscreen,  Initially, I thought it could be from being parked under trees, but it appears to be overspray. It has been pointed out that there has been a repair to the rear corner bumper, a very professional finish. I, therefore, suspect that the surface has been contaminated at some time by some overspray whilst in the spray shop. I have improved it slightly by T cut but it is taking a lot of effort and I don't want to damage the lacquer. the glass was easy it cleaned off with meths and elbow grease. can anyone advise on getting it off, I have heard that something call finishers clay could help, any advice would be welcome.

many thanks

Using a clay bar can remove it, well at least it did on my friends 5 series BMW. We used a Bilt Hamber medium clay bar, just need water to lube it. Some clay bars require the manufacturers lube.

cheers for that ...will see what I can get,  I got to go to Halfrauds tomorrow.

The halfords ones are expensive for what they are unless you have a trade card and a owners club card (15% off). Amazon will be your best bet.
