Ex motability with high mileage?

Featured Replies

Hi I’m thinking of buying an ex Motability Ford C max diesel. It’s 2015 reg but has 75000 miles on the clock. Is this excessive and should I be concerned? I know about other general concerns about ex Motability cars but most threads talk about low mileage. Thanks

As having been on the Motability scheme in the past and currently as a carer, this is unusually high mileage. The current allowance is 20000 per year,so they would have had to pay charges.I'm currently doing 70 odd miles a day and i'm expecting to hit 15000 at the 12 month stage, this is determined by college term times though. The car should have been fully serviced, even tyres are covered. To be fair, everything is covered in the contract, any problems you take it back and it's sorted. If the bodywork is free of dings and scrapes,as this is always a concern with ex-motability,then that will be a bonus.A lot of these cars do have extremely low mileages as people use them for Tesco's and the occasional hospital visit. This is what Motability like.If you intend to use the car a lot and mileage is an issue, probably look elsewhere.Good luck.

Im currently running a 1.5 tdci C-max on motability, everything is taken care of so there should be no worries about service etc ive had the car for six months and im on 9750 miles so touch and go about the mileage limit. I wouldnt worry about the mileage as long as the service is up to date, you donts say what engine.

A lot of mobility cars are used by disabled people who work. So not always low mileage.

To encourage people to look after their mobility cars. There is a refund at the end of the lease. Providing the car/van has be well looked after cosmetically.

From September this year the refund has gone up from £250 to £500.
