Mk 7 Squeaks/rattles/comuter Errors/tailgate Struts

Featured Replies

The Mk 7 appears to be falling to bits, so decided to take in for a job lot of work.

1. Nearside A pillar trim rattles when on rough tarmac, or the stereo is on.

Result - Padded out(?) and the rattle has gone. (Hope they haven't stuffed it with Andrex)

2. Clutch pedal constantly squeaks.

Result - Lubricated. Apparently a common fault as the heater box dries out the lube.

3. Front suspension squeaks when driving over humps.

Result - Could not find anything. To be fair the squeaking stopped when I took it in. Worst when it was really cold. Do bushes suffer from hardedning

in extreme cold?

4. Tailgate would not rise without manual intervention (defeats the point)

Result - Identified as weak, so were completely replaced. Had to wait as they were on back order. (Back order suggests a common fault and everyone is

having them replaced).

5. Engine Malfunction error (again)

Result - Upgrade of to the PCM (this is the 2nd or third PCM upgrade I have had, along with the Dashboard module upgrade)

6. Absolutely filthy

Result - not washed or valeted. They normally do. Must have been too cold for the car washer!

All completed under warranty. Hopefully it might spur people into action if they have similar problems.

The problem you have with the front suspension seems to be a common problem with he MK7 fiesta. I had the same problem last month. Ford replaced the whole front suspension struts on mine. It's fixed the problem for now, but i have noticed the noise is starting to come back again.

I wonder if it is to do with the cold weather we are having. Its not a fix, which MK7 owners deserve. But at least you'll have a cause

Is it supposed to go up on its own when you open the boot with the remote? Mine doesn't...

I was just about to post that!

I was just about to post that!

ah neither does mine, in fact it never has, i never new it was suppose to lol

The demo MK7 I drove (200 miles on the clock)

When you push the button if releases the boot, so you just lift it up without needed to use any catch or somthing.

I think it pops and unlocks the boot, doesn't fling it open

Wrong end of the stick guys. Sorry for the confusion. When the boot is popped, you normally would have to only lightly lift the tailgate and the struts would do the rest and open itto the top. I had to physically push the tailgate all the way up. If you pushed it 3/4 up, it would just stay there rather than the struts pushing it up.

I though they just needed a re-grease, but they were deemed weak and replaced.
