2009 mk2 focus auto accelerator kickdown

just bought a 2009 mk 2 focus automatic estate. only done 25000 miles. full ford dealer service history

just found out that if you kickdown accelerator pedal it takes off like a rocket, but when i ease off throttle it stays in low gear

and car slows down hard under engine braking. scaring driver behind. shoving gear to manual makes it change up normally

and back in auto everything works fine if i keep away from kick down position.

just spoke to a mate who has worked for a Ford main dealer for 30 years and he has never met the problem.

has anybody ever heard of this problem??? not sure the independant dealer i am taking it back to on tuesday will have a clue.

any suggestions gratefully received
