Car polish on plastic headlights?

Featured Replies

I clean my headlights with AoutGlym Fast Glass and the result is quite acceptable.  The guy next door cleans his with car polish,.  His headlights look good, crystal clear and shinny so I was tempted to polish mine but I wonder about the long term effect.  Is car polish  good or detrimental  for headlights?

ive always used car polish and wax on  headlights plastic and glass, with no detrimental effect.

Or use rain x

I used to use rainx on the glass headlights on my old Sierra but decided not to on the plastic lenses on the ST24 and my current Mondeo. otherwise, I've used wax on the headlights once.

Interestingly, I saw in Halfords that Rainx now have a 'plastic' version.

I machine polished my rear plastic tail lights and that made a big difference. I'd say use a separate polishing pad as you could get shards of plastic get stuck in there.
