Hi Tony.  It's probably your battery.  Fit a new one then check that the alternator is charging it properly by using a multimeter.

Thank you will update you when I try

If it's the original ford battery mines went last year I think so would definitely change it.

Tried new battery and when trying to start car just pops up aux heater 0% on the onboard screen

Sounds like the Gem unit

needs replacing and recoding.

So could the gem stop it from starting

not 100% certain on this but i thought it could stop the starter motor from activating. on this forum many times it has been mentioned about the circuit board in the speedo unit needing resoldering. I thought I had seen mentioned a few times that people could make the car start by pressing on the speedo unit in a certain place to flex it slightly to reconnect the dodgy soldering connections.

see video and read comments - one person does mention car not turning over (assume he means starter not activating)

My guess would have been the battery but like you say it hasn't helped,

Could it be a temperature sensor, I'm guessing it's not -59c where you are.

  • Author

No it’s reading -59 because I disconnected battery temp is reading 4 now

Hi,

Did you ever find a fix for this? My 2008 Ford Focus has done the same & I can't find anything online about it, aside from your post!

Thanks!
