Should I go for 1.0 EB?

Featured Replies

I love my 1.0 EB 140 Fiesta (last of the Mk7.5). It's nippy, comfy and has a fair few features (sat-nav, DAB, bluetooth) and is quite an economical car when you haven't got a heavy right/left foot (depending on which country).

The newer ones shouldn't have the brittle pipe issue as these were updated on the later models.
The rusting pipes will be an issue later on but preventative work can be done on those to stop it from happening.
If the car is looked after and well maintained, these issues shouldn't cause any problems because they can be caught before any damage is done.

To be honest I would say that more than 80% of drivers never check coolant, oil levels etc so they would never know there was an issue until it was too late and damage had already been done. Most people just get in their cars and drive which is why you see so many driving around with lights out, worn/damaged tyres etc.

Thank you for your answer.
So it's from March 1st, 2015 that the seal has been changed ?

thank you in advance

Some of the " premium " manufacturers have had issues far worse than the Ecoboost over the years - thinking BMW cylinder liners, Merc E class electro-hydraulic brakes, VW group diesel oil pump drives etc. They never seemed to get the publicity, probably because the manufacturers took action to keep it quiet - heard of one guy who had a recall on a BMW and found his engine was swapped for a new one while it was at the dealers.

Ford unfortunately do not seem to have handled things well, and once the media belatedly get hold of it..............

Plenty of mention on here of course, but looking through "first posts", most of us initially come here because we have a problem/want to ask a question/can't understand the manual etc, very few of us start off by posting how wonderful things are, so again maybe "issues" get a disproportionate amount of attention. I know several non-car enthusiast people who have had 2 or 3 Ecoboost engined cars and been very happy and are blissfully unaware of any problems, so maybe we worry too much on here sometimes!
