Trcek
Hi all, I’ve just completed an oil and filter change on my 2013 focus 1.6 tdci (titanium). All went as normal but on starting the car the outside temperature sensor has constantly read -40. Ran it for around 6-10 mins to see if it adjusted. I've tried removing a number of fuses, the block connector to the passenger mirror and lastly the positive battery connection in an effort to reset it. none have worked so looking for a tip/advice many thanks Matt

It happened to me as well. It was again after an oil and filter change. I though that I had unplugged or broken some sensor or cable but after a short run the reading was absolutely fine. Some months after I decided to check my ECU for DTC and then I found out that a DTC have been stored probably back then. I'm sure that it will be fine. iantt
The outside temp sensor is located in the n/s door mirror so I can't see there is a link with oil and filter change .
TomsFocus
You've probably knocked the plug out for either the engine temp sensor or the MAF sensor. Both of these make the outside temp default to -40... I have no idea why but they do!

oopsitsbrokenagain
Hi, Mine has been acting up lately too - it's reading about 6-15°C higher than the actual temperature outside, but very occasionally works correctly. Any ideas on what the issue might be or how best to fix this issue? Thanks

I ended up driving for around 20/30 mins and it rectified itself slowly as I drove
