Clutch sunk to floor !!! Help

Featured Replies

Hi all in need of some help and advise , so bought my brothers fiesta zetec s 30th anniversary and the clutch release bearing was noisy and squeeling , took out for a drive and less then a miles the clutch pedal sunk to the floor and I had to force car into gear without using the clutch  , next day in checked the car And noticed some fluid on the floor , any one possibly know what’s happend , is it the master cylinder thats failed or can a failed release bearing cause this ???

There's a common fault on these with the pedal clip snapping.  Is the fluid on the carpet under the pedals or on the driveway under the engine?

No the carpet is dry, it’s all over the drive way and the pedal, clip and rod is all intact

Sounds like the slave cylinder inside the gearbox has failed

As Stef says then, most likely the slave cylinder.  Worth changing the clutch at the same time, both to save future labour if the clutch wears out soon after and in case the fluid has contaminated the clutch.
