Featured Replies

hey i drive a 1990 mk4 escort 1.3 and my lights are draining my battery, i drive in the day and volts stay at around 12-13 but wen i turn my lights on it drops to about 6 and keeps dropping and im getting confused, much appreciated

Sounds like the alternator is knackered tbh.  At least it's a simple one to test on those, no modern smart charge lol!

If your lights are causing your voltage to drop to 6V instantly, and your battery is fully charged, then your battery is toast imo. Even new batteries can have faulty cells which drop out under load.

Your alternator may also need checking, if it's not been charging the battery properly causing it to fail prematurely.
