Totally agree about the drivers mat only being a good idea, I generally use Ebay mats and they are a bargain for a popular model like the Fiesta.

When I clean the interior (not as often as I should) I usually wash the mats and give them a scrub and dry them on the line. A second set is good for this in winter they take ages to dry. I would imagine that like carpets at home keeping them clean reduces wear, but also improves the smell.

If you get in a car without mats you will be amazed how much muck your feet spread straight away.

We've only just got the Fiesta and it had Ford mats fitted in pretty good nick, as an Ebay cheap set is £10 I've ordered one for when they need cleaning. (Ok I admit I can be a tad obsessive)

The only mats (floor tray) are weather tech v expensive but v v good .

Had for years no signs of wear, keep mud water gravel etc in the tray ( they have edges ) so if there’s a spill etc you can take the tray out with spill in it.

Laser scanned on a real car so fit is spot on, no pedal issues etc. 
Totally recommended.

 

 

The official Ford rubber mats are very good and about £23 for the front pair off ebay.
