Hi people I’m wondering if anyone can help me out my oil light has came on sometimes off and on and there is a tapping noise coming from the engine that gets louder the higher it revs I’ve checked the oil and it has plenty in the water coolant is fine aswell I had the AA out and the bloke said it sounds like the oil pump has went and the noise is the chain rattling about because there is no pressure Was wondering if anyone had a similar problem I’ve looked about on here for similar problems but people keep mentioning the coolant but that looks fine

    There have been a few oil pump failures on the 1.0 EcoBoost so that sounds the most likely here.  I'd recommend not driving it until the oil pressure has been checked.  The lack of lubrication between metal parts can quickly create a lot of metal flakes that end up around the oil ways causing irreparable damage.

    Some on here have had sump dropped to check the oil strainer , which when inspected was blocked up with sludge. That could be your issue. You may be lucky and just need cleaning out or replacing strainer, that's assuming no damage has occured elsewhere.
