Unintentional accereration

Featured Replies

I got a new Focus Vignale Diesel Automatic in December 2018. In Feb. 2019 when attempting to move my car a couple of feet to re-park it, I started the car normally, put the car in ‘drive’ and immediately the car shot forward at maximum acceleration and within 2 seconds I had hit two parked cars. There was much damage. In December a week after I got the car, while using ‘Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control’ set to 30 MPH, the car unintentionally accelerated up to 50 MPH without the road speed limit changing. The speed reduced as I applied the brakes.

I discussed both incidents with the dealer who says Ford have no knowledge of other such incidents.

Car is still awaiting examination for possible repair and cause. Not hopeful for the latter.

Has anyone had unintentional acceleration like this?

Not heard of this as a known fault but to me seems like a throttle position sensor fault.
Not good on such a young car for sure.
