Vent Selector Switch Stuck

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Recently brought a Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 "2010".

I went to change the vent selector from feet to feet and face but it's stuck, now it's stuck on feet. All the others work fine.

Any advice on how to fix this?

Thanks, Samantha

Maybe you could explain the issue a bit better? How can it be 'stuck' on feet, yet all the other selection directions work fine?

There is a spring connector from the dial to the side of the vent box under the dash.
The vent box connection is just up to the left of the clutch pedal.
The spring connector has either jumped out from one end or the other or more likely the dial end has rotated too far against resistance and the plastic has twisted.
It can be a pig to get the spring to locate correctly into the proper alignment on refitting.

Found a cheap and fairly easy fix if you haven’t snapped your cable and it is stuck at defrost.  Found a YouTube video that the fellow drilled holes in the heater blend box and used silicone spray, I found out you must use silicone spray as only it worked nearly instantly.https://youtu.be/QICUW1_KHV8?si=_rBNYgNXdpZAOKxc

You do realise this post is 5 years old, and even then she couldn't be bothered looking at the answers/advice that were given at the time 🤣
