Hi there, I’ve just bought a MK2 sept 2009 KA, it’s got 39k on the clock. The PAS light intermittently comes on the dashboard when I start the car, there is no loss of power steering and I can clear the warning light on the dash by turning the engine on/off. I think my car has the ESS power steering, any ideas? Thx

Check for any leaks if there are no leaks then it’s most  properly a faulty sensor

but also check the fluid level when car has warmed up to see if you have the correct amount in the  reservoir A’s this would also set the warning off if the level is low

Hi, as it has the electronic steering system, there is no fluid.

Battery voltage can have an effect on the power steering, low cost cranking voltage from the battery may trigger a dtc for steering. Have the battery checked.
