Ford focus zetec 1.6

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I have bought a Ford focus 52 plate, it is a 1.6 petrol and I was wondering if the mpg on my Ford is too low. I get 30mpg on average where I do 7miles of highway trip everyday. My Honda civic 2005 was getting better mpg

What engine was the civic? And how much better MPG?

The 1.6 in the MK1 is an old engine design and also needs to be worked fairly hard to make progress, neither makes for good MPG especially on short journeys.  I'd say 30 MPG is pretty reasonable/expected in the scenario you outlined.
